Rocko's Cottage Nestled in the Heart of Downtown Bar Harbor

  • Rocko's Cottage is located on a side street in the downtown area of the beautiful island town of Bar Harbor. We are pet friendly for your well mannered four legged friends. Rocko was actually our 7 lb Dorkie. (Dachshund/Yorkie)

    You will be within walking distance of over 25 restaurants ranging from fine dining to family fare. Bicycle rentals, kayaking trips, and unique shops galore are all just minutes away from your front door and yes we can tell you which of these places welcome pets. Walk the shore path or across a natural sand bar (actually a glacial deposit) to visit beautiful Bar Island. Never have to worry about parking your car or enjoying a cocktail and then driving.

    Rocko's Cottage was built in 2005 and is tastefully and comfortably furnished. You will find everything that you need to enjoy your stay. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessities of life, and the linens are all in good condition. The open floor plan actually makes our cottage appear much larger inside. It must be noted that the bathroom does not have a tub but does have a nice 4 ft. shower and for your convenience there is a stackable washer and dryer. This is a great house and location for people that travel with pets or just one or two couples or a small family that want to stay in the heart of town. Once you visit us you will be sure to return again and again.

    We, the owners, live locally and we are always only a phone call away if there is a problem. Welcome to our home and enjoy your stay....

We had a wonderful trip to Bar Harbor. Rocko's Cottage was the perfect place for our family and fur baby. It was clean, very comfortable, and in a great location. Lisa was so nice. We made lots of memories on this trip and have vowed to return often.

Enjoyed our stay in this well stocked, cozy cottage. The size was adequate for our family of four adults and loved we could bring our pup. King size bed was very comfortable and cottage was very clean. The cottage sits six feet behind the owners home but still plenty of room to park. Host was very responsive. Nice short walk to downtown Bar Harbor and close to Acadia. Would definitely recommend.

The house is perfectly appointed with a full kitchen, upgraded appliances, thoughtful additions of spices, every pan you could need, beautiful linens and fluffy towels, motorized recliners and a large kitchen table. The location is perfect - just a block behind the Grand Hotel- but on a quiet street so we could sleep with the windows open for cool Maine air. Regrettably, we didn’t have occasion to use the gas fireplace but did use the whisper-quiet AC. The hosts even provided laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets.

Excellent experience!

Lisa and Rick's property is immaculate, modern and very convenient to Bar Harbor's downtown. The home has many thoughtful, homey touches, and the hosts provide plenty of laundry and dish detergent, coffee and linens. We would love to stay there again.

Bar harbor

The cottage was well stocked and clean. Very easy check in and check out. Location was the best feature. We could walk everywhere in BaR Harbor and not have to worry about parking.

Perfect Short Getaway

Owners were right there to greet us as we arrived and communication was excellent. Cottage was immaculately clean. Owners thought of every little thing needed for guests better than any VRBO I've stayed at in the past. Everything in Bar Harbor was an easy walk from the cottage and we all slept like babies in comfort and silence. We had a great week, thank you

Biking & Hiking 2023

Perfect weather everyday for enjoying Acadia. We can bike and hike to the park from this lovely home. Additionally there is a Sunday market 2 blocks away by the YMCA.

Hidden Gem in Bar Harbor

Property is ideal for a couple or small family. Located off Main Street in Bar Harbor, it was perfect for walks to restaurants, shops, the Shore Path or anything else in the downtown area and also minutes away from Acadia National Park. The place was really clean and had all the basics needed for the week. The owners, Lisa and Rick, made check in easy and were quick to respond to questions. As others have said, this house is a hidden gem in Bar Harbor. I would definitely book again if I ever go back and I truly wish we could have stayed a little longer.

Perfect in Every Way

Lovely, lovely, lovely. By far the best rental we have ever had the pleasure of calling home for a week. Impeccably clean, quality and comfort throughout, quiet neighborhood yet easily walkable to the center of town, hosts are welcoming and respond quickly to any questions you may have. A perfect little spot

This house was perfect for our family of 4. The house is cute and clean and has all the basics, making a longer stay easy (cooking supplies, laundry, etc.). The location is great because you are right outside the bustle of Bar Harbor but everything is an easy walk including downtown shops and the Shore Path (which is also helpful because you never have to pay to park). Also the park is right there so it’s also a great place to access all park points. We would totally go back!

3rd time's the charm

This was our third time staying at Rocko's cottage and we are at the point that we really don't wish to stay anywhere else when we are visiting MDI! The cottage suits our needs perfectly, with its proximity to downtown Bar Harbor and more importantly as a launch pad for all of our hiking adventures in the National Park. The kitchen was perfect for our simple dinners (in between lobster roll lunches), the living room suitable for winding down after hard days of hiking, and the bed comfortable. Thank you again, Lisa and Rick, for your hospitality. I hope we have the chance to stay again!

Wonderful experience!

We first visited Rocko's Cottage in 2017, and were excited to return! Lisa and Rick are responsive and gracious hosts, and the changes they have made in the cottage are wonderful enhancements. Cozy, quiet, comfortable, and convenient - walk only a few blocks and we were able both to stroll the Shore Path and to explore and dine throughout downtown Bar Harbor. A three mile drive brought us to the entrance to Acadia National Park and we enjoyed driving the Park Loop Road and getting out to see Thunder Hole (our dog Jake enjoyed this, too!) So once again we were grateful to be here - thank you, Lisa and Rick.

Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Parking in Bar Harbor is challenging but this location allowed us to walk everywhere easily. Very convenient to the Shore walk.

We loved Rocko’s cottage! Very clean, comfortable and had everything we could have wanted! The location is great - we could leave the car parked and walk about Bar Harbor. Lisa and Rick are wonderful hosts.
