APRIL/MAY DATES available. Come visit! Juniper Cottage shares with our home and Hawthorn Cottage two lovely acres in Somesville, a historic village at the heart of Acadia National Park. It is just a short walk to the library, repertory theater, church, museum, and convenience store. Both ocean and lake are within walking distance also. The view from our property is of Cadillac Mountain, across thoughtfully landscaped lawns and gardens. Juniper's screened porch and gas fireplace make it a charming home away in any season. I had always stayed in Bar Harbor, but when my usual apartment went to long-term rentals this year, I decided it was time for a change. I truly didn't miss being in town, and found this location perfect for the places I like to hike. Everything was as described and well maintained. Fresh flowers were a nice touch. The cottage was as pictured and so clean and well equipped. We bought some groceries and cooked for a few nights, and the kitchen had pots, pans, and all utensils needed for our stay. We did appreciate the A/C unit in the bedroom to keep it cool at night, and the ceiling fan helped circulate the cool air without any problems or feeling it was too hot. The couch was comfortable, and the screened porch was the perfect spot for morning coffee, or an evening cocktail while reviewing our day and making plans for the next. This is not in Bar Harbor, and it took us about 20 minutes to drive there, but we enjoyed the quiet side of the island much more and still had everything we needed. There were maps and activity pamphlets left for us to help decide what to do and where to go. The flowers on the windowsill were a sweet touch as well. If we come back to MDI, we will definitely book here again, or refer to our family and friends. What a gem! ##### Ronda G. They were there for any question we had, every item we needed - not that we needed much because they truly had thought of everything! The Juniper is a quaint and roomy little cottage. My only negative take away is the small and very uncomfortable couch was super hard to relax on. Unfortunately it’s time has passed. It had everything we needed to feel comfortable and at home. My wife was amazed with the kitchen and bedroom accoutrements. It felt like a five-star hotel. It’s in a great location. All the activities and attractions are no more than 20 minutes drive. Marilee was great! Very nice and helpful. MDI is a popular spot and if it’s Acadia or Bar Harbor you are always dealing with parking and tourist. Close by Southwest Harbor has excellent stores and restaurants. We cooked several of our own meals. They were simple, but all the equipment we needed was there. The cottage was perfect for my wife and I to celebrate our 20year anniversary. We are avid cyclists and love to bike. The cottage is in a great spot.
