(Was) The Arnhem Oak, Memorial Way, Tonge Mill Park This tree is the only one of the seven memorial trees in this avenue that has died. Hopefully it will be replaced, with a living tree soon. The plaque with the tree is divided into two sections. The 1st section reads "1944 - 2004. In this the 60th Anniversary year of the battle of Arnhem this plaque is dedicated to the Courage Sacrifice and Suffering of the people of Arnhem during those fateful days in September 1944. They alone with God, are the guardians of all those gallant men of the 1st Airborne Division who paid the supreme sacrifice and rest in Oosterbeek Cemetery. The bond of friendship formed in those dark days will last forever "Each year the leaves of Autumn shed, upon the likeness of my friend" Dedicated on 8th May 2004 The Parachute Regimental Association, Sittingbourne Branch." The 2nd Section reads "The Arnhem Oak. This tree was brought from the Town of Arnhem and planted here to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of 'Operation Market Garden' which took place in September 1944. It is dedicated to the memory of all the men of the 1st Airborne Division and all those who took part in the battle and to those of them to whom it was called upon to pay the Supreme Sacrifice and now rest in Oosterbeek Cemetery, Holland. 'Theirs is the Glory' None Shall Be Forgotten. Dedicated on Saturday 8th May 2004. The Parachute Regimental Association, Sittingbourne Branch."

The Royal Air Force Oak Tree, Memorial Way, Tong Mill Park The plaque with this tree reads "This tree is Dedicated to the Memory of the Men and Women of The Royal Air Force. Who made the Supreme Sacrifice in the Service of their Country. Since its formation in 1918. The Royal Air Force. The Women's Royal Air Force and The Women's Auxiliary Air Force. 'Time after time, we saw the cost. To all who fought so well, yet lost. For then a fiery plunge through space, In another Time, another Place'. This Plaque was Unveiled by Squadron Leader A.J.Garlant. RAF (retired) 'We Will Remember Them' The Sittingbourne and Milton Regis Branch. The Royal British Legion". The below that is a line drawing of a Handley Page Halifax Bomber. At the top of the plaque is two line drawings of a Spitfire and Hurricane fighters beside the Royal Air Force Crest.
