Staff was great and really helpful. Replied to my emails before arriving and gave me an idea of how much to pay for a taxi or tuk tuk from train station to the hostel. Called tour company for me and helped sort out details for the tour. I booked a deluxe dorm room but the room didn't have a window so it was dark. Since I was out most of the day that was fine for sleeping and actually felt nice and cozy. Bed was very comfortable. Large bathroom with plenty of sinks, shower stalls and toilets. Unfortunately, by night time the women's bathroom got pretty messy so it could use a late sprucing up. About 15 minutes walk to Kaosan Road but there are many more interesting neighborhoods close by to explore. Hint, if going shopping at Siam Square or MBK Mall take the canal taxi. For 9 bhats it's much nicer than getting stuck in traffic in a taxi or tuk tuk. Breakfast is toast, jam, cookies and tea but they have other food and coffee you can buy. 7-11 is down the street along with plenty of restaurants. I think you’re paying more for the look than anything else. The restrooms are cleaned often throughout the day but there are no air fresheners... so at the end of the day/evening with the hot air and humidity the whole corridor starts to smell bad. Also, almost half of the over head showers weren’t working and the placement of hooks within the shower were close to the water so everything would get splashed on ... especially when you’re forced to use the hand held shower head. If you’re into doing your makeup, the light quality is really poor for that. It’s like doing your makeup at a club. The rooms have really nice blackout curtains and mood lighting. The mattress and pillow is okay. The safe is ridiculously small and at the foot of the bed/inside the curtain so kind of awkward. So bring an extra lock for your luggage/backpack. Also, the bedroom door opens inward which is unsafe. There are some pieces of paper hanging up advertising food tours and a music event but it’s really minimal. I imagined the hostel would be way more inclusive and community oriented than that. The staff doesn’t interact much with the guests, which was fine for me but I feel like (since it’s such a big place), if I brought an outsider into my room, no one would notice. The rooftop is just it. A rooftop with a bunch of platforms to sit on. Overall though I would say that personally (for me) I was disappointed. Where it excels is in social activities and the location is ok, but once you get a little used to Bangkok getting around is not so bad. I had previously stayed in other accommodation in the city with less expense and higher standards and facilities (eg included cooked breakfast, immaculate bathrooms). Extra charges here such as towel rental were a surprise to me. The staff were very nice, the vibe is good, the location fine. Not worth the money. The lobby and the rooftop were the best things about this hostel. They were clean, spacious and welcoming but unfortunaly that's where It stopped. What we booked on hotels.com and the room we booked was not what we recieved and the staff said they hadn't yet updated it on hotels.com because they swapped the rooms around. (No that's our fault) They did try to fix the situation but the solution saw us moved to a new room right next to the staff room and not a solution at all as the staff like to stay awake intil 3am. Very noisy hostel so if you want any sleep I wouldn't recommend and the bathrooms were dirty the whole time we stayed. Breakfast was toast and cornflakes so nothing to fet excited about.
