We were just passing through Bangkok and needed a place closest to the airport.
Walking distance from BKK. We decided on Novotel BKK, the most expensive one on the search list, because it's closest 0.25 miles from BKK and we didn't want to waste time waiting for hotel shuttle at 12am and a drive in traffic. Well, you can't walk there from international arrival and I doubt you can walk from the domestic terminal either.
We walked into the lobby and it was dark, nothing like the lit-up lobby as pictured. We had to search for the registration desk which is the every back of the hotel. We walked to our home and the hallway was dark and it looked like any other low quality hotel hallways. We opened the room door, the AC was off in the hot summer, and smelled the staled cigarette odor even though it says no smoking in the room. We just too tired to go through the room changing exercise.
We went down to get breakfast but found nothing but over-priced low qualify food and coffee. We ate anyway because there is no place to eat within walking distance of the hotel.
We didn't mind paying more but didn't get the convenient and quality of service in this price range.
