Living room: Freeview TV, DVD Player, French Doors Leading To Sitting-Out Area
Shower Room: Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot available on request. Highchair. Welcome pack. Please note: The property has a natural water supply from a borehole. There are 2 steps in the garden.. This detached barn conversion, adjacent to the ownerās home, is located just outside the lovely conservation village of Fordyce, 1½ miles from the Moray coast. A peaceful, quiet magical place, the village is a warren of narrow streets and beautiful houses still following a medieval plan, and all wrapped around a magnificent centrepiece, Fordyce Castle, simply sitting on a bend in the village street.
The holiday cottage is very spacious, comfortable and warm, and takes advantage of the panoramic views of both sea and countryside, with the arched French doors in the living room leading to a sunny sitting-out area at the front. Set within 1 acre of private grounds with dedicated guest outside area with garden furniture and BBQ available, fenced for dog security.
Fordyce also offers an attractive park opposite the old kirkyard as well as a Victorian garden. The sandy beach at Sandend is a quick drive or a 45-minute walk from the cottage, where you can safely swim and surfers enjoy the waves. Good coastal walks abound through the old fishing villages of Portsoy and Cullen or alternatively travel inland through castle and whisky country.
There are plenty of golf courses in the vicinity, and the variety of bird and wildlife both onshore and off will please the keen nature lover. A charming bistro just a 10-minute walk away in Fordyce serves delicious seasonal evening meals and weekend lunches (seasonal). Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Lovely cosy and well appointed cottage.
Lovely cosy and well appointed cottage. Good view towards the coast and a short walk from the beautiful village of Fordyce. Next to fields and a wood for dog walking ( wet in October so take wellies ). Good selection of books, music and movies. Local information and ordnance survey maps provided. Short drive to the lovely beach at Sandend And coastal walks. Good back roads for cycling straight from the door and dry storage for bikes in the barn next door. No shops in Fordyce but short drive to Portsoy or Cullen for facilities. Well located in a great area to explore.

The house is very comfortable and extremely well equipped.
The house is very comfortable and extremely well equipped. A terrific view with two lovely outside seating areas if the weather is good. Very clean and tidy. The bed was slightly on the small side for us as weāre used to king sized at home but nevertheless it was comfortable. The local area has so much to offer and we would love to go back and see more!

This was my third stay and I enjoyed it just as much as on previous visits. The welcome pack gives advice on a wide range of walks and things to do in the area and it is lovely to stay somewhere the my dog is welcomed rather than simply tolerated.

A great time spent at the Steading and the adjacent beaches the dog thought she had died and gone to dog heavenš¾š¾. I just admit that I lived on a mainly fish diet for the week. I would recommend the following, The Old Kirk and bistro Fordyce, the Royal Oak Cullen, The Station Hotel Portsoy among others. We did see the roe deer in the field in the top corner behind the steading

Lovely cosy cottage, fabulous views all round.
Lovely cosy cottage, fabulous views all round. Everything we needed. Welcome pack including treats for our dog. Owners checked everything ok but although they lived next door they were not intrusive. Short drive to lots of beaches, Cullen was our favourite with walk to Portknockie for delicious fish and chips. Pretty little village.

Third year in a row we stayed at tThe Brae, and it only gets better - not by much as itās always been outstanding.
New coffee shop in Portknockie now allows dogs and is worth a visit. The Royal Oak in Cullen also allows dogs and served great food. We have holidayed in the Moray Firth for many years, and this is the best value accommodation we have stayed in. Spotless - like moving into a new house.

This was our second holiday at The Brae which is probably the best recommendation we can make.
This was our second holiday at The Brae which is probably the best recommendation we can make. It is very clean and comfortable and in a lovely location; it's very quiet although that may change a bit during harvest time given that the property is overlooking a wide expanse of fields growing cereals.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the spectacular weather ensured the double doors on the front the property were opened wide for uninterrupted views of the sea. The local hares are quite entertaining too!
