This "review" is not a surprise given that the renter had called me four days into his rental and demanded a rebate because of poor weather. I explained to him that we did not control the weather and that there would be no rebate. He then cussed me, said that I would regret it and hung up. I would assume that this "review" is pay-back, but even false or exaggerated assertions must be addressed - 1. photos of the house and property are current. Photos # 37 -64 were taken within the last six months. Photos #1-36 within the last two years. The house is as shown in the photos or as the guest that stayed at the house 10 days prior wrote in her review - " Even better than the photos". 2. the swimming pool has in excess of 30,000 tiles - occasionally a few lose their adhesion, but are annually replaced and re-bonded in the low season. It is my understanding that no more than fifty of the1"x1" tiles are currently missing - that is 50 out of 30,000. 3. the majority of the furniture in the house was purchased and installed within the last 12 months. There are no problems with the lighting systems at the house - either interior or exterior. 4. there is one paved road in the entire southern pacific zone of Costa Rica and this road travels near every house in Dominical and the villages south to the Panamanian border. Trucks do travel this road , but to allege that truck noise is continual or interrupting is untrue. The only real noise comes from birds or the waves breaking on Playa Dominical. 5. I did find it interesting that the writer claims that he has stayed many times in the Dominical area when in pre-booking conversations, he stated that although he had been to Costa Rica once before but he had never been to the Dominical area or the southern zone. 6. the rainy season in Costa Rica can be difficult for structures. The walkways at the house are pressure washed weekly and exterior painting is done in November when the weather begins to clear. The unfortunate part of online rental systems is that there is no way for an owner to screen potential guests. Most of our guests are wonderful people and we have many return renters every year. But this guest was not such a person. He and his group were extremely rude and demeaning to our staff, so much so that one house keeper refused to work the last three days of the stay - she felt abused. Had we known the caliber of these people and the damage they would do, we would never have accepted the rental.
