About this property
Fairytale Scots Baronial Coach House in Ballater, near Balmoral Castle
For the first time in its 200-year history, this extraordinary Scots baronial coach house is available to stay in. Positioned in the heart of Ballater, just 500 metres from the village square and 8 miles from Balmoral, this iconic home, one of the most photographed properties in the area (it has even featured on a Christmas card), has been meticulously restored in 2026 with new heating, a full renovation throughout, and luxurious interiors, offering a truly unique stay in the heart of Royal Deeside.
Everything is on foot: the village square, independent shops, cafés, pubs and the riverside walks along the Dee are all just a few minutes' stroll away, with Cairngorms trails on the doorstep. Well-behaved dogs are welcome (max 2, £40 per stay; please bring your own dog towels, bedding and bowls, and dogs stay downstairs and off the sofas), and at Christmas the house is dressed with a tree and all the trimmings for a truly festive Highland stay. A welcome basket awaits you in the kitchen with Prosecco, Scottish shortbread and, of course, a bottle of Irn-Bru – it wouldn't be a Scottish welcome without it!
Short term let license no: AS-01459-F
