About this property

The Old Farmhouse - 2 Bedroom property, stunning character, views & location

  • Newly converted barn on working sheep farm, The Old Farmhouse dates back to 1750 with original stone hearth and inset log burner. Open plan living, dining and kitchen with underfloor heated stone floors. Both bedrooms are en suite shower rooms with heated towel rails and the property has beautiful original stone walls and exposed beams. Stunning views and a private out door patio make it a very special little retreat.
On site, there is a games room, drying room, safe cycle storage and picnic/bbq area. Guests can enjoy fresh farm eggs and milk delivered to their doorstep each morning.
Ideal for a family or small group of up to 4 people. This property can be prepared as a double and twin bedrooms, or as 2 twin bedrooms if required; each with their own en-suite shower room.
The first floor offers a beautiful variety of views from each bedroom. In particular, the double room has wonderful views of Magpie mine, and you may also be lucky enough to see some of our wonderful sunsets, which can be particularly stunning in the winter months as the red glow shines through the silhouette of trees in our woodland.
The open-plan ground floor is flooded with light from the large glazed opening which leads to your private patio area. A well-equipped kitchen, including a dish-washer, is designed to make your stay as easy as possible.

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful peaceful location on a working farm. Bakewell and Buxton are just a few minutes away as are many excellent walking areas - there's even very nice walking straight from the door. The host was friendly and helpful. The parking did get a bit tight at the end of our stay when a group turned up for the larger property next door, but the host said we could just park in their private parking which was also very nearby. The property information says "3 pin socket in car park" for EV charging, but this is incorrect - it is a single 7kW untethered type 2 charger operated by VoltShare, 0.58/kWh in July 26. We had a lovely stay and will definitely be back.

Great family stay in Sheldon

Great location for visiting the Derbyshire Dales, whether by foot or by car. Sheldon is a lovely quiet village and the local pub took care of our dinner plans a couple of nights! Julia, the owner, was great and a nice addition was the fresh farm meat products and eggs that were available every day. Would definitely stay there again
