Lone Wolf Lodge - in Wallowa-Whitman Nat`l Forest
Welcome to Lone Wolf Lodge, a quiet mountain retreat tucked inside the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest on the way up Dooley Mountain. Built in 2011 and renovated in 2019, this peaceful getaway offers a remote forest setting with easy access to outdoor adventure.
Set on 10 acres of mountainside and stream-bottom land, the lodge is ideal for guests who want to relax, explore, and enjoy nature. Bring your ATV, hike nearby logging roads and trails, or drive higher up the mountain to take in the views. The home includes two main level bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with a queen bed. On the second level there is a spacious loft with a queen bed, queen sofa sleeper, and full-size futon. The large bathroom, on the main level, includes a walk-in shower as well as a washer and dryer.
The full kitchen is equipped with a dining table, stove, dishwasher, microwave, side-by-side refrigerator, coffee maker, Keurig, and French press. The kitchen opens into the living room, which offers comfortable seating and a large-screen Roku TV with free channels, plus some streaming options or you are welcomed to log into your own subscriptions. A second TV is located upstairs in the loft, and games for extra entertainment. For families traveling with little ones, a pack-n-play, highchair, and baby gate are available.
Outside, guests can enjoy the fenced yard, a rustic bench under the pines, a picnic table, and a gas grill. Enjoy your mornings sitting outdoors listening to the gurgle of the seasonal stream run and watch the sun come over the mountains. A stream runs just outside the fence behind the house, so children must be supervised when outdoors. Wildlife sightings in the area may include mule deer, wild turkeys, antelope, and elk have been seen on the hillside behind the house, with occasional sightings of other wildlife like lion, bear and wolf, farther up the mountain.
Guests have private access to the home and fenced yard, with keypad access to the driveway and smart-lock access to the house for convenient self-check-in. There is ample parking, including carport space for two vehicles.

We were there for a four-day weekend and used this as base camp to explore the area. We enjoyed returning to this quiet forested refuge each afternoon and enjoyed sitting outside until dark. The home is exceptionally well furnished and equipped.
Beautiful property, unbelievably clean, the perfect amenities, great location. Our group of 6 had the best time!!! Close to hiking, historic Baker City, Sumpter flea market. Beds were very comfortable and all stay instructions and tips were clear and made our stay enjoyable. Would highly recommend and we will stay again.
We stayed for the 2nd time this year. We brought our side by side atv, and rode the mountains above the property. Gorgeous views and lots of wildlife. We cant wait to go back. This is our favorite vrbo, ever.
The home is spacious, cozy, and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed and more. The furniture was very comfortable and the TV worked great. It was nice the owner warned us about the iron in the water and provided Brita filters on the faucet and containers for the fridge. The place was just perfect for our stay.
The house was very clean, spacious, comfortable beds and stocked with everything you need. The property is beautiful and a very relaxing. I would highly suggest bringing your own water for drinking. Brita pitchers were supplied due to the minerals in the water, but two of us still got really upset stomaches. Overall, we loved this place and had a great stay!
We had a nice family gathering at Lone Wolf Lodge. The house lends itself to a family group with its open floor plan and loft areas. The manager was very responsive and cooperative in making our stay a good one. There are a lot of golden mantle chipmunks in the areas so it is best heed the owner’s warning (which was greatly appreciated) and leave your car hoods open while parked to prevent issues. Other than that it was a wonderful stay!!
I booked this house for a long weekend for myself and 2 of my adult children; one of them had a birthday on Friday. We arrived early enough on Thursday and the ever-changing weather cooperated; we got to observe the lunar eclipse. We were Very impressed with the location, the privacy, the Quiet and the amenities. We each had our own space to rest, nap, and read. We loved playing games and cards in the living room, and watching the snow fall, the birds play and trying to count all the gnomes.I love to cook, even on vacation, and I was very impressed with the kitchen setup; the utensils, pots and pans, spices and the variety of kitchen tools. Close to Baker City for shopping and admiring the main street attractions. We also did some exploratory driving to Sumpter, up towards Granite, the animal viewpoint and up 245 a bit for an amazing view. The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable and we all left feeling very rested. We all highly recommend this place.

Beautiful cabin, very private and peaceful.there is plenty of cooking wear and a great BBQ. The setting is awesome, I would see mule deer on the ridge line in the morning and cool breezes would blow down the hillside in the evenings. We really enjoyed the experience thank you for sharing this experience with us. I would definitely recommend it.

House was clean and beautiful

Came over for the Sumpter Flea Market and our family opted for a house rather than a motel in the area. So glad we did. This house was like home; comfortable with all the amenities, quiet location, nature and yes, wifi for the kids and TV for the husband. Will make this weekend and house a tradition.
Such a nice peaceful place. The entire property is Gorgeous and maintained so well. The house is Very nice, and the owners dont skimp on anything. There are also alot of great books to flip through and read. Oh enjoy the 2 doe deer that live right on the hill on the property. You will see them often while sitting on the picnic table. We cant wait to go back.Thank You
The place was really clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. There's a lot of space both inside and out. It's conveniently located to Baker City, close but out in the National forest. It is also close to Philips lake. Also, the owners were super nice.On the down side, there must be a firing range close by. We heard gunshots all day, every day. Also, the well water contains mineral, which is safe to drink but not palatable. Last but not least, the most comfortable outside space is the carport. However, the owner has a security camera focused on it and the camera is monitored. We didn't appreciate the lack of privacy.
Before walking into the home, I was told that it had just been cleaned. Sadly, the floors, closets, and some cabinets were ripe with fresh mouse droppings. I immediately swept and vacuumed the floors, disinfected the counters and tables, and washed everything that I knew I would use. For example, the skillet under the stove have over 12 mouse droppings in it. The next morning, many of the droppings were back, and a mouse ran from the bathroom to the stove then disappeared under the stove. The property manager eventually showed up with some glue traps. Overall, I do not recommend staying at this VRBO.
Great property, good location. Tons of wildlife the first day. By Sunday, the cows had taken over but it was still a great stay. We wished we'd have booked an extra night!
From booking to checkout, the process was hassle-free and no hidden surprises. This property description is modest, it delivers much more. Instant serenity outside and excellent accommodations for complete relaxation.
Have already recommended this property and absolutely plan on return visits.
overall great stay, the location was handy as a meeting place in the country and close to Sumpter where other family was staying. A little disappointed in VRBO pricing, implied 9 can stay here, but then charges additional person of $25 ea after 2. NIce place
