In Stockach in the Lech Valley in Tyrol, a peaceful, nature-filled holiday awaits you in the summer, with plenty of mountain air, water, and traditional village life. The area around Bach-Stockach is located in the heart of the Tyrolean Lech Nature Park, offering you many opportunities for outdoor activities of all difficulty levels.

    Hiking and Mountain Tours
An extensive network of hiking trails from the valley floor all the way up to panoramic peaks in the Lechtal and Allgäu Alps.

Popular tours start from the Jöchelspitzbahn, such as those to the Bernhardseck Hut, the Lachenkopf, or—for the more experienced—the Großer Krottenkopf, which offers sweeping views of the Lech Valley.

Themed trails, such as the botanical nature trail on the Jöchelspitze, make hiking exciting even for families and beginners.

    Cycling, Mountain Biking, and E-Biking
Well-developed cycling and mountain biking routes run along the Tyrolean Lech River and up to alpine pastures and huts.

The Lechtal Cycle Trail is particularly well-suited for leisurely cyclists who prefer a relaxed ride along the river—it’s also ideal for e-bikes.

    Water Activities on the Lech
The wild Tyrolean Lech River is perfect for guided rafting tours that combine action with scenic views.

Along the river, you’ll find plenty of quiet spots for picnics, playing by the water, and taking photos of the river landscape.

    Paragliding and Special Experiences
At the Jöchelspitze, there are launch sites for paragliders; tandem flights and introductory courses are offered on-site, allowing you to experience the Lech Valley from the air.

Guided llama trekking tours around Bach-Stockach are a highlight for families; the animals carry the luggage and make the hike an unforgettable experience.

    Nature Highlights and Day-Trip Destinations
Impressive natural sites such as waterfalls, gorges, and lookout points are within easy reach, e.g., the waterfall in the Modertal or the Saxerwand in the Madautal.

In the immediate vicinity, destinations such as the Höhenbach Valley Gorge with the Holzgau suspension bridge or the alpine village of Fallerschein offer additional hiking opportunities and photo opportunities.

    Village Life, Culture, and Tradition
In Bach and Stockach, Tyrolean customs and traditions are still actively practised, for example during summer concerts by the brass bands and village festivals.

The Mountain Hay Museum and alpine pastures such as the Baumgart Alm offer insights into the traditional management of mountain meadows and the lives of mountain farmers.

    Winter:
In winter, Stockach in the Lech Valley is all about peaceful, nature-oriented winter sports and cosy experiences in the snow. Instead of a massive ski resort, you’ll find manageable slopes, plenty of space, winter trails, and a genuine Tyrolean winter idyll.

    Skiing and Snowboarding
Right in Bach-Stockach, the modern Jöchelspitzbahn takes you up to around 1,800 metres; at the top, scenic, leisurely slopes await families, beginners, and those returning to the sport.

Scattered throughout the Lech Valley, smaller lifts and family-friendly ski slopes ensure stress-free days without crowds at the lifts.

    Cross-country skiing and winter hiking
The Lech Valley is known for its cross-country trails, which offer plenty of space and tranquility; the highlight is the Lechtal Trail, which runs nearly the entire length of the valley and is easily accessible from Stockach.

Groomed winter hiking trails invite you to take easy walks along the Lech River or through side valleys—ideal for anyone who prefers a leisurely stroll.

    Tobogganing, Sledding & Family Activities
Children and families can go tobogganing and sledding on various slopes throughout the valley; in many places, easy toboggan runs and family-friendly slopes are groomed.

The offerings are complemented by classic winter activities such as ice skating and curling, which are organised depending on the location and weather conditions.

    Snowshoeing and the quiet wilderness
Guided or self-guided snowshoe hikes lead through snow-covered forests and onto scenic plateaus around Bach-Stockach, far away from the slopes.

Especially in the Lechtal Nature Park, you’ll experience a particularly unspoiled winter landscape with plenty of tranquility, which is also ideal for wildlife viewing and photography tours.

    Romance, indulgence, and village life
Horse-drawn sleigh rides, evening walks in the snow, and stops at inns serving regional cuisine are all part of the typical winter experience in the Lechtal.

In the villages around Stockach, Advent events, winter concerts, and living traditions ensure atmospheric evenings after a day spent outdoors.
