The grounds were well kept, in the same manner that you’d see at a resort. The lodge was very large, with a huge finished basement. Comfortable living room furniture, and a large kitchen with everything you need to cook during your stay. The wrap around porch had plenty of seating and table space, both in the front and back. We also used a large grille on the back porch to make breakfast and dinner. We were there during the summer, so the fireplace wasn’t needed. But I can imagine how cozy the lodge must be when it’s snowing. About a 20 minute drive to Cherry Springs park, although the sky & stars were excellent on-premises as well. We live in eastern Pennsylvania, and forgot that there are elk in the western part of the state. One walked right up past the lodge while we were sitting on the porch. While it is a beautiful lodge, please note that it is a fully provisioned home with electricity\\fridge\\freezer\\heat\\water\\plumbing\\full kitchen\\WiFi\\etc. ##### Steven M. He was aware. But the home wasnt secure for them or us. Toilet seats, one side broken on both toilets on first floor. We are older and almost fell twice. The microwave door handle had hard dried dirt on it from previous renter, I cleaned it because I didn’t want that to be blamed on me.Beautiful home and property. We were very comfortable, the owners thought of everything. Quite a lot of rules, more than other VRBO properties we've stayed at. Like most places you run dishwasher upon leaving, here you had to empty dishwasher too. You were supposed to wash your towels before leaving. Never has an owner asked that of us before. Tons of room for all of our family. Everyone enjoyed the immaculate accommodations. Lightly rained the entire time we were there, but with plenty of room inside and tons of outdoor covered deck space, we still had a great time. The location is quite rural (just what we were looking for as long-time visitors of the Black Forest area in PA), so be prepared. Sam was easy to communicate with and the check-in/check-out process was very simple. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat... with everything you could possibly want in a house. ##### William M. The kids LOVED running everywhere ! Even had fantastic whole family hide and seek. Explored some local sites, but also just enjoyed the property. The ac units upstairs were so welcome. It got a bit uncomfortable heatwise inside, but overall it cooled down enough for sleeping. We ate every meal on the porch. Once we started seeing bear, we saw them 5 different times! Everything was thoughtfully stocked and we'd love to return one day. The hardest thing to figure out was regulating the hot and cold on the upstairs and downstairs showers.
