The place to be in Costa Rica is famous for having the best climate in the world, and it is centrally located near the main attractions. A fabulous property situated in the most exclusive gated community in Atenas, conveniently located within walking distance to the center of this quaint little town. When entering this amazing home, one is dazzled by its beauty. A uniquely designed inner courtyard and fountain welcome you into this exquisite home, which features a luxurious, comfortable living room, a media room, a fully equipped kitchen with a butler's pantry, and a formal dining room. The beautiful artwork and decorations, plush bedroom furniture and bedding, expansive outdoor deck with sparkling clear pool, hot tub/jacuzzi, cold plunge pool, and inviting lounge furniture are almost too overwhelming. Start your day with a tropical breakfast on the outdoor patio, take a swim in the pool, and enjoy a good glass of wine while overseeing the beautiful view of the valley below and the mountains beyond; all ingredients for a wonderful vacation at "La Perla de Atenas" – and you can have it all. This beautiful home has three bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, double sinks, and a walk-in closet, comfortably accommodating up to six people. The master suite has a king-size bed with a luxurious Tempurpedic mattress, two walk-in closets, a jacuzzi bathtub, a separate luxurious shower, and a sauna steam room. Two separate guest suites are tastefully furnished with comfortable king-sized beds and dressers. WiFi, cable, and local telephone are enabled for convenience. On the property, there are many mature trees that tropical birds such as toucans, Montezuma Oropendolas, and motmots always visit. Wake up to the sound of nature, stroll outside, and pick your healthy breakfast from the many fruit trees: orange, mango, guanabana, clementine, star fruit, and water apple. This makes an excellent start for a wonderful new day in paradise. As an additional service to our house guests, we offer a fee-based airport pick-up and drop-off to help you avoid the potential hassles involved in the transitions into and out of your time in Costa Rica (something to consider when you have nighttime travel plans, mainly, but a nice comfort to have in any event). We also provide car rentals and tours to all corners of the country, including the Poas and Arenal volcanoes, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a private Catamaran Sailing tour, a visit to an Organic Coffee Farm, and custom-made tours to our guests' requests throughout Costa Rica. Our property managers, Klaas and Sandra de Graaf, are multilingual (English, Dutch, Spanish) from the Netherlands. They are ready to welcome you to La Perla de Atenas and will do everything they can to make your stay a great success. They can arrange for your fridge to be stocked with your favorite groceries upon arrival, or have a home-cooked meal ready for you on your arrival day. Weekly cleaning is included for guests who stay longer than 10 days. Our excellent housekeeper, Isabel, is a jewel. Very spacious and well equipped for the needs or our family with 2 little kids. The grounds were expansive with orange and lemon trees. My initial concern was that there won't be much to do around Atenas. However, was proven wrong. Sandra took great care of us and suggested as well arranged fun daily activities for us. The grill area is separated from the other outdoor areas but we still enjoyed it. The night time view of the valley cannot be beat. Sitting in the pool at night watching the lightning in the distance was very relaxing. We would definitely stay again however we plan on seeing other parts of the wonderful country. ##### James M. The view from the outside is amazing. We loved spending the day by the pool and the evening under the covered patio playing games. The home is spacious and all the furniture is lovely and comfortable. The steam room and cold plunge pool was a delight we've never experienced. Our stay at La Pearla was a week of beauty and relaxation. The rooms were clean. The beds were confortable but our favorite part was the outside living area. We spent 90% of our time outside enjoying the pools and hot tub. Sandra and Klaas were super responsive. Setting up a tour and giving great recommendations for places to eat and shop. Resort style stay, Beautiful views and landscaping; Coffee every morning on the patio, the patio was the place to be to take in the view, breeze, birds, etc. We would walk into town in the mornings but taxi back (up hill is tough). Sauna, Pool and Hot Tub was an every day visit. Kitchen had everything needed for cooking meals, the BBQ pit was great. Sandra was amazing, quick to respond to any question or concern with lots of recommendations for taxi drivers, things to do, etc. We Highly recommend for people to stay here if you are in need of some R&R and not the touristy hustle and bustle. ##### Daniel G. This was our third stay here and it was fabulous as always. It was the first time we brought extended family with us and the hosts accommodated every need for the diverse group. The house is perfect since each room has it's own bathroom so everyone can have their own private space to get ready. We loved our chill time by the pool and late night spa time after a group home cooked dinner in the great kitchen. Everyone loved the house and we have amazing memories that will last a lifetime. The house the layout is spectacular. more than enough room for a family or serval couples… the separate living room vs TV room is huge. The deck , pool, hot tub & cold plunge pool are excellent. The sauna steam room is a added bonus. You will see birds , and critters around. I will go back in a second. The property mangers answered quickly and were great with info and suggestions. For our first time to Costa Rica, the bar has been set incredibly high by this amazing rental and our hosts. From the breathtaking landscape, property (you can pick your own fruit!) and mountain view, to every amenity that you could want, this house went far beyond our expectations. I wish we could have stayed longer to spend more time enjoying the pool and spa features, though we maximized our time with several Bunki Tours exploring varying parts and vegetation of Costa Rica, all of which were fabulous. The nearby tortilla tour was definitely a highlight and great way to jump into the habitat and culture. Sandra, Klaus and Marco went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. Comfortable beds, spacious throughout, all the appliances needed for the kitchen. The patio and pool area was where we spent lots of our time while at the property, and the geckos were lovely in the evenings. Wonderful pool. The only downside, totally out of the control of management, were the flying ants. They were in other parts of town as well. We did determine that keeping the lights off helped with them not coming in, but made it tricky to do much but use our electronics at times. Other wildlife around the property was fascinating - toucans, iguanas, many species of birds. Wonderful overall! ##### Lorri V. Unfortunately a couple of the kids wound up sick shortly after arrival so we did not explore as much as expected. I will say there was a detailed review by someone that almost made me cancel our reservation that mentioned the heat and lack of AC. The highs were up into the low 90s while we were there, but the house only warms up for a couple of hours before sunset. It was so cool in the morning that having a robe, or long sleeves was a must. We also drove to Arenal and Manuel Antonio National park and stayed overnight at each place. We obviously spent more on stays this way, but we found that it was nice to have a home base 2.5 hrs from each place. The family slept better at the house and preferred it over los Lagos and Shana by the beach, even though those were beautiful places as well. This is a great spot to unwind with a lot of great amenities at home. There is a beautiful mango tree on the property. Definitely explore outside and wake up for the sunrise every day. Keep your screens shut and the home one to keep it cool. My son accidentally had an iguana follow him into the front room when he was carrying things in. We didn’t see him again once we were able to help him find his way out. If this is your first visit to Costa Rica, definitely go visit the surrounding areas to experience seeing the monkeys, birds and sloths in their natural habitats. The driving there isn’t bad at all and the winding roads were beautiful mini road trips. ##### Angela C.
