Beautifully remodeled in 2006, this 1923 cabin still retains some of its rustic charm with age warbled glass pane windows, old stone fireplace with custom cedar slab mantle, and refinished hardwood floors. The gorgeous tiled bath includes a jetted tub and shower. This rustic cabin is heated with a wood stove insert with a gorgeous old stone fireplace and cedar slab mantle, plus in September 2021 we added a split pump so now have the choice of electric heat & air conditioning as well.

If traveling in winter, Mt Rainier National Park requires all vehicles carry chains into the park. This mountain cabin sits at 2000' elevation in the Cascade Mountain range, so may or may not have snow accumulation at any time between November and April depending on storm systems. The highway is plowed often so access to the cabin driveway is kept clear. The driveway has an incline, so some years once in a while during heavy snow systems, guests may prefer to park at the bottom of the driveway if not in a 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle.
In the mountains, power outages are common and can occur for a few minutes to a few hours at any time of year. We try to keep this cabin stocked with flashlights and candles. Additionally, we have added battery-operated lightbulbs in the Owl's roost lamp, Bear cub room lamp, and the light fixture above the bench in the mud room. They only work in single light bulb fixtures. They have about an 8-hour charge if the power goes out. Also, there are a few push button battery operated mini-lights throughout the cabin as well.
Due to a severe allergy, dogs are not allowed in our cabin.

We stayed 2 nights and it was a great base for going to Paradise and getting away from internet, social media and TV. We struggled with phone coverage so we’re unable to get hold of the owners to ask any questions, but this wasn’t essential as we realised there was no internet! The cabin was comfortable and quirky. There was a great choice of DVD’s and board games which was a nice way of having good family time together. We enjoyed the hot tub and S’mores in the fire pit - a ‘must do’ when we visit our grandchildren from the U.K. We’d be happy to stay here again
Our family of 6 absolutely loved our stay! We couldn't have asked for a better location as we were just a couple minutes from the Mt. Rainer entrance which made it very convenient to enter the park each day. We would definitely return for a future adventure!
We loved our stay! Right outside the Mt Ranier park gate, and convenient to Ashford, its a lovely cabin up on the hill. Even our teens enjoyed the wide movie selection (despite lack of internet) ;) Would definitely stay again.
Thanks so much for the great stay! We had a great time being disconnected for our stay. The property was well maintained and had the basics to make a simple meal.
We enjoyed being close to the park as we were able to relax and rest after a long days hike!
Thank you!
The cabin was spotless and the hot tub was much appreciated. Close to the entrance to the park. The owners have everything you need for cooking, only we went out for meals.
First time staying here and it was very nice. Clean also! Our 3 kids (10,8,6) came and loved it. They stayed up in the loft and was very entertained by all of the toys, stuffies, books and puzzles. There wasn’t any WiFi, which was actually nice because it had us play lots of board games and card games. Lots of family time. The kids LOVED the hot tub and hammock. Loved the seclusion and the open forest in the back yard. Beautiful. Very close to the park entrance.
Perfect little cabin for our family of 5 looking for a weekend getaway. Fully stocked cabin and right near the park entrance. The kids had fun watching movies, exploring outside, playing games and going in the hot tub. Will definitely come back!
The Cornerstone Cabin was the perfect home base for us to visit Mt. Rainier. The location couldn’t be better. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the hot tub was a great bonus. We enjoyed the fact that there was no wi-fi and we were able to truly get away from it all.
Our stay was amazing. The property was so quiet and peaceful. The cabin was really clean and nicely decorated. The host communicated well with check in and other details which was really great.
We would choose this cabin again if we were to go back to WA.
This cabin was a perfect launching ground for our stay at Mount Rainier National Park. It was only about 5 minutes from the park entrance. We loved the fire pit and the dart board outside. We also loved the big movie selection. We had everything we needed there. The cabin has great rustic charm.
Please be advised, there is no wifi and not much cell service here, which we didn't mind.
Such a cute cabin. Excellent location to the park and town. It had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. There was limited cell reception which I actually enjoyed and it was fun looking through the collection of dvd’s at night finding a movie after long days of hiking. I also enjoyed just sitting outside and the hot tub. I didn’t need to communicate with the owner for anything, but the check in process was super easy and there were instructions and options for things posted which were super helpful and appreciated. Most definitely will be staying here again soon.
My friends and I were doing a very strenuous hike near Mt. Rainier and wanted to stay the nights before/after nearby to avoid needing to make the long drive to/from Seattle. This cabin suited our needs perfectly. It was as close to Rainier National Park as possible. Although the place is small (we wouldn't have wanted to share it with a fourth unrelated adult) it is packed with amenities. We enjoyed cooking dinner in the well equipped kitchen, relaxing in the hot tub. and getting wonderful sleep in the beds. We will keep this in mind for future visits.
This was a beautiful, easily accessible cabin right outside the main entry gate for the national park. The kids enjoyed the movies, we all enjoyed the hot tub, and the property manager was easy to communicate with. The only thing I would warn people about is that if you are a light sleeper you may have trouble as in the primary bedroom you will hear every vehicle that goes by as you are above the main road. It didnt bother us too much and we slept great after all the hiking, and the bed was overall very comfortable. Well stocked kitchen and everything we needed for a family of 5 to cook meals. Had limited cell service with Verizon on the main deck- which was lovely to sit on and read.
Pros: great directions. Found the cabin in the dark without getting lost. Great communication. Clean ( I did mistaken a small leak from the bathroom skylight as unclean…the cabin was super clean)The kitchen was fully supplied with with everything I needed to cook and bake with ;pots pan, plates, kitchen utensils)Really close to mount Rainer The games and movies are great! They also have a journal that you can’t write a little something about yourself inside it. That was fun to read. I really enjoyed the place. I would stay again. I think I would enjoy it much more in the summer. Cons-the cabinets are super high. Like ceiling high. They do provide a stool. The steps up to the bedrooms. Very steep. But they have a sturdy railing to hold onto
We really enjoyed the Cornerstone Cabin! A great combination of modern convenience and rustic charm and setting - perfect for our family (we have two teens). Note it's about 35-40 minutes from the main Paradise visitor center and the most popular hiking trails. But that's as close as *any* lodging can be (other than the two hotels inside the park). Pretty much nothing is closer, since it's immediately outside the park entrance.
Hot tub in the backyard was great - felt new and clean. Large new laundry machines. Kitchen was very well stocked - though a) no dishwasher, and b) cabinets are ridiculously high, so if you're not tall, and not comfortable standing on a step stool (provided), that could be a problem. Loved that unlike most places, they left condiments, bottled water, and some other essentials in the fridge and kitchen. There's a decent small grocery store about 5 minutes drive before the cabin - had everything we needed.
We were there on the hottest days of the summer (92+), and the main floor A/C kept up just fine. Even the lofts were OK if we left the windows open, and used the box fan (provided) - because the whole place is shaded by tall trees. Beds in the lofts were very comfortable BTW.
The only caveats are 1) If you have *young* kids, the loft areas could be a bit dangerous - without railings around the cutouts for the stairs. 2) The futon in the living room wasn't the most comfortable to sleep on.
But overall, great stay, and would definitely recommend!
The cabin is so cute and cozy! Beautifully updated by the owners. They provide a picture album that allows you to see their process from starting with worn and molded panels and ll through to new tile and woodwork. Wonderful woodlands all around and gorgeous views! We didn't want to leave. Absolutely recommended!
