Don't stay here.
This hotel was extremely disappointing, mostly due to the unclean and inadequate conditions of the room and both the lack of organization and lack of communication skills of the staff. From the moment I arrived, it was not what I expected. They were doing work on the lobby/entrance area, so there were paint cans, plastic tarps and workers all over the place. Then, when we checked in, we discovered that the manager spoke almost no English. Next, despite our having paid in advance for our hotel, she required a credit card for a security deposit of 500 quetzal, which she said we'd be credited at the end of our stay. There was nothing about this security deposit in any of the information I received about the hotel, or on their website. To add insult to injury, their credit card system was down when we were checking out, so we were told we would have to call at a later time to get that 500 quetzal charge removed. Shady. But worst of all was the state of my room when I checked in: the toilet flusher came off in my hand on the first use; the shower didn't drain; the sink drain didn't stay open, so the water would pool until you manually opened it from underneath the sink counter; THERE WERE HAIRS IN THE BEDSHEETS. I demanded clean sheets, the toilet fixed, and the sink fixed within the first hour of my stay. Though the staff was helpful on that front, I was disgusted. Had I not paid in advance for three nights at this hotel, I would have left and gone somewhere else.
