"So disappointing! We got to the resort at 5:05pm. We were told our room was not ready. We watched other families come in after us and go right to their rooms. We waited over 2 hours to even be able to enter the room. They just kept telling us to check back in 30 mins. When we got to the room, there were no toiletries, towels or garbage bags in the cans. We were told they did not have any towels and to check in the morning. We slept on mattress covers because the beds were missing their fitted sheets. Once we got settled in the room, we had 1 hour to swim before the pool closed and without any slides since they had closed and hour before. The water and the temperature in the building was cold. There were not enough inner tubes for the lazy river while the slides were open the next day since one of the slides used the tubes too. We booked through Hotels.com and were not made aware that the wave pool or the big slide by the wave pool were closed. In the morning when we went to brush our teeth, there was no water coming out of the faucet or the tub. How does water get shut off to a room?! This was one of the most disappointing family trips we have ever been on. I really expected a grand experience with the price we paid."

"There is no front desk. So before arrival I got text about my cabin name and key code. But there is no map. There are about 60 cabins scattered in the wood. I can’t find my cabin. I called the customer service. They said they were going to send me a map. Never got it. At the end, with the help of another guest, I found my cabin. On the second day, toilet water tank ran out of water."

"This space was so perfect for our family of four. The teenagers and adults each had plenty of space for individual activities and as a group we had plenty of space for board games, watching a show, having dinner together, cooking, or anything else that came to mind! Location was perfect for access to Starved Rock State Park and other nearby hiking areas. We appreciated having two full bathrooms, laundry access, and also all the dishes, coffee maker, toaster and amenities we could wish for to make some meals ourselves. We didn’t discover the game cupboard til our last day there but brought our own with us anyway. We had a great time in this space and I already posted a link to it for my Facebook friends in case they also want to come to this area! I also want to mention that the communication with our host was top notch and he was very responsive! Thank you for an amazing stay!"

"I had to call VRBO customer service to get a hold of my host in order to receive the site address and access code for the rental. Customer service was able to get in touch with the host so it luckily worked out, but it was stressful on the day-of still waiting on necessary information for our vacation. Cleanliness was just okay; there was loose hair throughout the bathrooms upon arrival. No extra blankets for beds. Kitchen supplies were okay, but definitely limited. I've stayed in these cabins before and other units were cleaner and offered more overall supplies for the same nightly price. "

"We had a wonderful Christmas stay with our family in this charming Victorian home! We have always been fascinated with these kinds of homes, and this one did not disappoint! Everything about the place was as described. The host was extremely accommodating and quick to respond to a couple of questions we had. The house was even roomier than we thought it would be. We especially enjoyed watching the river traffic from the dining rooms and the deck. We highly recommend this place and would stay here again!"
