Wonderful budget option in downtown Amman
The staff is very kind and helpful. This is a budget hotel, so do not expect luxury, but for it what it is, the value is great. The breakfast is also pretty wonderful. And they have a cute cat. They can also arrange trips for tourists/suggest itineraries. The service in the lobby leaves nothing to be desired.

Best budget hotel in Amman
My go-to hotel when I’m in Amman; the only thing that’s ever wrong is when they’re booked up and I can’t get a room. Super-helpful staff, terrific rooms at great prices, good breakfasts, handy location.

A gold star budget hotel!!!
We loved this hotel/hostel and it came highly recommended! It’s a great place for backpackers and budget travelers. Was traveling with my sister; we stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip for a total of 4 nights. We loved our rooms: they were bright, roomy & immaculately clean with a balcony. We happened to be here at the end of Ramadan and watched from our balcony as everyone walked downtown at night to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. Was so very cool to watch! The beds & bedding were comfortable. The common areas were welcoming and the staff was always friendly and helpful with locations! They will also help you with Jordan trips/drivers! It’s a great location, short walk to downtown and all Amman’s sights, and right below Rainbow Street! Breakfast was superb and different every morning! The painted wall murals (a local artist, we learned) throughout hotel were beyond stunning! The hotel is one floor up from street level; if carrying your luggage up a floor is difficult just push the buzzer and they will gladly help you! (I saw an earlier reviewer complain about this; read the signs and Sydney Hotel will help you!) There are both private rooms with ensuite and shared dormitories. The staff helped to arrange an airport transfer for 20JD.

This was a lovely hotel/ hostel. I felt really safe and welcome immediately. They staff was very friendly and helpful. The decorations at the hotel were lovely. Highly recommended!

Booked this hotel as a budget option given that we were staying in more luxury accommodation for other parts of our trip. It is fine, but it is just ‘okay’ being a budget option. We were very pleased with their airport pick up service, arriving at Amman Airport at 3.30am in the morning and having our driver take us all the way to our room (reception was closed) was excellent. The bed was comfortable enough and we were able to do laundry using their washer and dryer. The only real problem we had was there was no hot water, which in winter, isn’t ideal. The best thing about this accommodation other than the price is it’s location - only a very short walk down to busy Downtown Amman.

My favourite Hostel
This is the third time I’ve stayed at Sydney hostel, and it’s one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in. I tend to travel over winter and it’s so warm and cosy, impeccably clean and the staff are really welcoming (hello Bassan) As a solo traveller, it’s small enough to meet people. There’s a comfy common area just off reception. Thanks again for a great stay.

A hostel private room noisy & minimaly furnished.
Really is a Hostel with some private rooms with bath next to the dorms & meeting/breakfast room. The staff is helpfull! At this price we can't expect a new building, but there were large steps to climb at 1st floor (no lift), easy street parking, location 200-400m to busy foody Old City area. Problems regarding the room poor insulated & furnished: NOT the room from PICTURES! no rack & wardrobe! no luggage stand! no chairs! no mirror! extremely hard mattress! no view! We can hear everyone passing on the corridor due of thin wooden door with 1cm bottom space. The window have NO soundproof, we can hear the hostel courtyard, and we can't open the window for fresh air.

Maybe you booked a room different than the one you were looking at. Rooms with balcony has a view and the normal ones do not have a view but they are quite unless there are some annoying people not caring about other guests who are sitting in the backyard and being loud. Usually we tell them to keep it quite and we close it at 11 pm so people can sleep. Thank you for understanding

Great Value
I did a private room and the room was big. Location is good for food and walking to sites. They sell Dead Sea products for a low fixed price and will arrange shared tours with other people in the hotel to save money. I shared a cab to the airport on the way out. Everyone here is friendly and goes out of their way to make your stay memorable. Tip: Konya Turkish Restaurant is 2 blocks away. Great place for hookah and kabobs. Con: My only complaint was the shower temperature. Water was warm but not hot. I think would be fine in the summer, but it was cold out. I didn’t wash my hair for 3 days. Water didn’t get hot enough for my preference.

Walking distance to basically everything interesting in Amman. We stayed for two nights and never had to get in our car once. Staff was friendly and breakfast was excellent. Only issue was our pillows were chunky and uncomfortable

Great Location, Tidy
Nice stay (twice) at the Sydney Hotel. It is in a great location; we could walk (though it was quite hilly!) to many places nearby. It was tidy and comfortable, and the hotel staff was helpful in setting up a car rental when we arrived and transfer after our stay.

Location, location, location
Hotel Sydney is the perfect location for the highlights of Amman. The Citadel, the Roman forum and downtown within comfortsble walking distance in one direction and the nightlife of Rainbow St in the other. Front desk staff are very helpfull and friendly. The rooms quite simple and clean with effective aircon. No smoking in the rooms but a smokers outdoor area. Good value for money, recommended.

Great place if your looking for somewhere cheap and affordable. Works well for students looking for a temporary place to stay before finding a apartment for longer duration stays. Friendly and helpful staff.

This hostel (not hotel) is fairly dated but you get what you pay for. The price is cheap. The location is decent, within walking distance to the Citadel and Roman amphitheatre. The staff and facilities are average. The room was clean. The shared bathrooms were fairly average without being able to flush toilet paper (clogging issues). Overall good value for the price and location

Simple but more than sufficient
Location of property is great - walkable to rainbow street and downtown amman. Staff was polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms were simple, but really a clean bed, clean bathroom and warm shower is more than sufficient for our needs. The hotel felt safe and secure. My room had a little balcony with seats as well which was a nice touch. Breakfast was also simple but suited us. Would definitely recommend and return.

Great hotel
The staff was very friendly. The hotel is located downtown, the area is very safe. The room was clean. They offered luggage storage for a few days while we were in Aqaba, Wadi Rum and Petra. I would definitely stay there my next time in Amman.

Good location gives the secure Sydney Hotel a plus
I enjoyed my stay at the Sydney Hotel. The hotel is a single floor in a larger building. Safe and secure with codes to get in and limits on visitors, the dorm and private room hotel offers an inexpensive and clean place near the downtown. The location does not have a lot to offer right at the hotel but a short walk will start to take you downtown. Downtown is not considered totally safe by everyone so be careful late at night. I stayed in a private room and slept comfortably on the bed, the A/C worked, and had a nice hot shower. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The owner was helpful and friendly. Dorms are inexpensive. My single cost slightly less than a nicer hotel I have stayed in and I might choose to stay there next time due to the ease of parking and the more upscale experience. However, if going for the location so you can walk to the Roman amphitheater and the market downtown, this would be a good choice.

Clean and well maintained
Based on a very short stay at the Sydney hotel, me and my wife were surprised how clean and well maintained the hotel was (the facade may fool you). It is located in down town.
