Anne and Frédéric are excellent hosts, very helpful without being intrusive. The accommodation cannot be faulted. Clean, very well equipped and very spacious. Small but well stocked supermarket within 5 minutes. Larger Carrefour and E Leclerc hypermarkets within 20 minutes. Pleasant 3 mile walk through vineyards and around a lake straight from the Gite with more demanding and walks and hikes within driving distance. Carcassonne easy 20 minute drive from gite. Our hosts Frederic, Anne and the family were so welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived up to the second we left and even invited us for a home cooked meal on our last evening because they enjoy hosting their guests so much. We booked the property so we as a family could celebrate Richard's forthcoming 80th birthday. It did not disappoint, the house was charming and the heated pool wonderful. Frederick kept the pool in immaculate condition. Anne was very helpful - keen that everything was always OK. We would not hesitate in recommending it. The village of Alzonne has a supermarket and a wonderful butcher, both open on Sunday mornings - very near to do the shopping. We had a great holiday, despite some poor weather, and were very sorry to leave but hopefully will be back some time. We do miss playing ball with the family dog - keeps you fit!! ##### Valerie H. I would highly recommend it. The house is in a very convenient location within walking distance of the nearby village. It is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday in peaceful surroundings. The gardens and heated salt water pool are fantastic!!...such care and attention is put to maintaining them to a very high standard. There is loads of room for children to run around and the owners dog provided hours of entertainment for my three boys. Anne and Frederic were so helpful and kind and it was great to have them on site to offer recommendations of places to go and things to do. They have done a fantastic job restoring this house to a very high standard. One of the best we have stayed in. We were all very sad to leave...but look forward to returning next year. ##### Diane C. The rooms were tastefully decorated, the villa was well equipped, the pool was lovely and the owners (and their friendly dog) were very welcoming and helpful. There was a BBQ and an outdoor seating area which we used a lot. We flew in to Carcassonne airport and it was only 15 minutes drive to the house, which was ideal. The medieval city of Carcassonne was stunning and the Pyrenees were an easy drive from the property. Montolieu, about 10 minutes drive, was a pretty village with some good restaurants. The owners also gave us some good suggestions for places to eat. The weather was really hot, in the mid 30's on some days, so we used the pool and sunbeds quite a lot. However, the high temperatures meant that it was hot in the bedrooms at night. My husband found some pretty running routes from the villa which took him around the surrounding countryside. Overall, we loved our stay here and would highly recommend this property. ##### Elaine M. The road from Alzonne - a handy but not picturesque village - is only a few hundred metres away though scarcely heard. Just two of us stayed in the property so we had loads of space and the best bedroom. The bedrooms were painted in a soothing distressed grey with beautifully toned curtains and bed linen. The kitchen is well provided with clean and modern equipment. The pool is very well maintained by Frederic, heated to a pleasant 27c. We didn't use the spacious living area as the weather was, overall good. Frederic and Anne are attentive yet unobtrusive hosts, always concerned that we were OK. They also have the most gorgeous dog we would happily have brought home! The property may not suit some as there are a lot of stairs, some quite steep, and the pool is about 1.4m deep except on the tiered steps. If we hadn't booked our return hotels we would have loved to have stayed longer. ##### Tim L. We were delighted to find that the property was exactly as anticipated from the pictures. We felt relaxed and at home instantly ! The pool was very much appreciated even in October ! In the summer you need go no further, unless you want to. Anne and Frederick are perfect hosts - there when you need them to answer a question or give a recommendation but totally unobtrusive otherwise. The location is ideally placed for exploring the region; both Toulouse and Narbonne are within easy driving distance. The Intermarchè in Alzonne has pretty much all you need and the Charcuterie next door to it is a must. In addition to every type of meat imaginable there are fruit, veg and (home made ?) dishes like ratatouille and cassoulet to take away as well as cheeses and locally made ice cream. Carcassone itself is only a short distance away and the property is easibly and quickly accessible from the airport. We very, very much hope to be able to return in the future as it's such a perfect place to chill out while at the same time being close to everything you might hope for in terms of entertainment or sightseeing.
