"We very much enjoyed our stay at this property! Check in and out was a breeze - they also allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel after check-out since our flight wasn’t until the evening. The location was phenomenal. It’s only two blocks from the beach. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the property was extremely clean. The breakfast was delicious. We also enjoyed the room’s balcony. This property is a great value for the location and cleanliness. Would highly recommend!"

"Location, food, restaurants , gym, pool staff , clean rooms were all excellent, Except for the dangerous stairs that one takes from the pool into the beach that is derailed and is about to collapse , while a few wires are holding it from falling , a liability waiting to happen and a guest unfortunately hurt , God forbid bc of negligence . Also the beach umbrellas and chairs are outdated and poorly kept."

"Hola!! Si vas de vacaciones a Río el lugar para alojarte es “el Janeiro”. Creo que 5 estrellas es poco. Desde la atención, el servicio, la excelencia de su personal en cada una de las áreas, la mejor ubicación de todo Río y cada detalle demuestra que NADA fue liberado al azar en este hotel. "First off, this is a favela, and it’s amazing. The views are unreal, the space is comfortable, and it’s easy to just stay here all day and not want to leave. That said, it *is* still a favela, so come prepared. If you have multiple bags, use Google Translate to arrange a motorbike or van to get up the hill. Ubers can take a while and often stop running around midnight. My stay was incredible. I didn’t realize breakfast was included every morning, and the family here is so welcoming and kind, above&beyond. On my first day they were having a barbecue and invited me to try traditional foods like maionese and churrasco. Later we went to a bloco party together and they made sure I felt safe the entire time. There are community rules, and the hosts clearly explained where to go and what areas to avoid. I genuinely felt safe and cared for. There’s a strong sense of community here. There are different room types with or without AC. I chose a non AC room. It was a little hot during the day but not unbearable. Pro tip: the rooftop is cooler and doubles as a lounging and viewing deck. I also didn’t know how to turn on the hot water at first, so ask for a quick walkthrough. If you prefer very modern, sturdy bathroom fixtures, this may not be the best fit. This is not something you can experience through a tour. To understand the warmth and daily life of a favela, you have to live in it. If you’re open minded and prepared, this stay is truly special. <3 Thank you for all the hospitality "
