About this property

Traditional Swedish house in the forest

  • Imagine a place where the silence is broken only by the wind high in the treetops, while you enjoy the protection of the old trees around. This historic farmhouse, painted in the classic red color, invites you to experience authentic forest life with modern comfort.

Inside the house you'll find a charming mix of tradition and modernity. The horizontal beams carry the history, while the modern stove is complemented by a functional old-fashioned wood stove, perfect for heating in winter.

Outside, a well-kept lawn opens up for play and relaxation, sliding into the surrounding forest, located 1 min from the house. The sun bathes the grounds in light from morning to early evening during the summer months, creating ideal conditions for days filled with outdoor activities.

The area offers more than just silence, the lakeshore is a spectacular vantage point for both birds of prey and starry nights. Hiking, cycling, kayaking and fishing are on the doorstep, making this the perfect retreat for nature lovers. 1 hour's drive away you'll find Isaberg, which is ideal for 1-day ski trips during the winter months.

The cottage is in a fantastic location—very quiet—and there are beautiful hiking trails right outside. The cottage itself is old; it creaks and groans, but it has all the modern amenities. We felt right at home there and always looked forward to coming back after each outing. In the evenings, we loved lighting the wood-burning stove, which warms the house up nicely.

We enjoyed our stay—the peaceful setting, the birds, the forest, and the lake (just 150 meters away). For our walks, we often headed toward the area above Almult. Almult is also a great place to go shopping. The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated. There are plenty of amenities, so you’ll want for nothing. We had nice weather, so we enjoyed the wooden deck with its lounge chairs and large umbrella. Unfortunately, the grass was very tall. There’s a gravel road right next to the house, but a car only passes by a few times a day. The beds are comfortable. There are window screens, except in the master bedroom. For two days we had a fly infestation, but later they suddenly disappeared. The second bedroom is centrally located in the house, so to get from the master bedroom to the bathroom, you have to go through it (or go around it). The small bathroom is adequate but nothing to write home about. With four people, it’s not ideal that the toilet is in the bathroom. Also, there doesn’t seem to be enough hot water (is the water heater too small?). Our recommendations: Rent kayaks from Agundaborg Campground, the Two Guys restaurant in Almhult (à la carte), and the IKEA Museum. All in all, a pleasant stay, but there’s room for improvement.
