"Staff were friendly and very welcoming. We found a few maintenance things that they sprung into action to take care of. We were in a suite with a sitting room. The room was quaint and offered a wonderful outdoor porch. The only con to our stay is how uncomfortable the bed was. It was hard and spring filled which kept us tossing most the night with lack of comfort. We left before breakfast, so we aren’t sure how that was, but it smelled good! We did dine at the in house restaurant. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. Our biggest enjoyment of our stay was the location. The view is astounding and you’re within walking distance of everything downtown Manteo and it’s only a short drive to the Nags Head if you want more activities."

"Absolutely love everything about this house. The convenience to everything, fenced in yard for your fur babies, cleanliness, and the breathtaking views and sunsets. The Host is very responsive and accommodating. This is our second year staying at Serene Sound Retreat and plan to stay again. "

"When we first saw the boat, it was quaint and the view was so beautiful!! The water and the dock was so peaceful. we hopped on the boat and went inside. The inside was already cool and comfortable. The boat was furnished nicely and I had no complaints with the cleanliness. we enjoyed our stay on top of the deck where we ate some seafood from steamers and watched the sun go down. It was beautiful. The only thing that I would change is the bathroom situation. We could not put toilet paper in the toilet, so it was a minor inconvenience to put our used toilet paper in the garbage bag. The bathroom will have a slight smell to it due to the toilet being somewhat of a porta potty. We just kept it clean with the toilet brush and some cleaner. The parking can be a challenge if the restaurant is busy. The first night we were there we had to park near the clubhouse which is a good size walk. The second night we had no problem finding a spot near the boat. The clubhouse is at the beginning of the property and the boat is almost to the end of the property, which does mean that if your older like us, then it would be wise to drive there and not walk. This is also where you will take a shower. These inconveniences were very minor compared to the location, price, and beauty of the area. I would stay again. "
