Tivoli Carvoeiro 2nd Visit somewhat lacking

Posted 11-Jun-2017
Pros: The room decor was modern, bright and comfortable as was the aforementioned poolside area and the dramatic cliffside ocean view.
Cons: Tivoli Carveiro must inspect the Air conditioning in the rooms as the units gave off random banging noises. Also, the waiting staff need more training
Location: Fabulous beaches, especially Centiane, a 3 minute drive from the hotel. A hire car is essential to make us of the nearby potteries and other resorts.
This was our 2nd stay at Tivoli Carvoeiro, our first being in 2011, long before the current redevelopment. The head waiter even claimed to remember us from our first stay. We were a little concerned prior to our arrival this time because we knew parts of the hotel were still not yet complete. However, to their credit we were welcomed with open arms and the lobbies, restaurants, rooms and poolside facilities were all up and running well. The food was all varied, delicious and well prepared for the most part. The unfinished parts of the Tivoli included the Spa and indoor pool, however, this did not detract from our stay. We have been to this area 3 times now and though well equipped with lovely beaches and a fairly raffish and popular restaurant and bar culture, there wasn't much to do in Carvoeiro itself. To this, we found that our hire car was an invaluable addition to our stay, as we do know this area quite well already.

Much improved but not finished yet!

Posted 09-Jun-2017
Pros: View, staff, beds and bedrooms.
Cons: Breakfast, complete work.
Location: Amazing view - watch out for dolphins and seagulls in equal measure! Golf, small beach, summer entertainment in square. 4/5 great restaurants.
The renovations to the Tivoli have much improved the communal areas and the rooms. The corridors are quite bleak and there remains months of further work. When completed, this will be a modern 4* hotel. The overwhelmingly outstanding features of this hotel are the amazing staff, the very comfortable beds and bedrooms and the beautiful view. Breakfast is a basic buffet - nothing special (apart from spontaneous deliveries of fresh pastala del nata!). Go for the staff, rooms and view and you won't be disappointed- we weren't!

A May week in the Tivoli Carvoeiro

Posted 12-May-2017
Pros: The friendly and helpful staff in all areas of the hotel.
Cons: Not much
Location: Great location with lovely views of ther cliffs and the shore, with an easy 10 minute walk into town
The refurbished hotel is gorgeous, the new rooms, the new balconies and new public areas are lovely. The staff continue to be extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. The new entrance and reception is quite stylish, the Sky Bar is a must-see, with dramatic views from the roof. It was a real treat to stay here.

A work in progress...

Posted 17-Apr-2017
It is impossible to rate this hotel at the moment as work is not complete on the refurbishment. I am sure it will be lovely when the builders leave! While we were there, there was a strong smell of "new" coming from the fixtures in the room (wardrobes, etc.) and the lifts were not working. Access from the 3rd floor to the pool was a bit of an obstacle course - over tarpaulin covering the floors while builders worked. The pool cafe was not open (not finished). Having said all that - it will be lovely when it is finished but hurt to have to pay for facilities that were not there during our stay. I think, if anything, the opening was too soon.

Beautiful Hotel in stunning location.

Very clean, comfortable hotel with friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay at the end of October. Weather still warm enough to swim in fabulous 2m deep pool, and sunbathe on beautiful lawns, so much more pleasant than concrete. Excellent location overlooking bay, with beautiful walks in either direction along cliffs, or 5 min stroll into lovely Carvoeiro. Hotel restaurant disappointing for dinner as no food cooked to order but plenty of good restaurants nearby. Breakfast v good with lots of freshly prepared fruit.

I have no up-market friends, so I can't recommend

It was not too bad, but we have been told that I will close for renovations and when it re-opens we will not be able to afford it as it will catering for up-market clients. i never had to pay to use the vault in a hotel room

Restful Hotel, Great Location.

Posted 23-Sep-2016
Cons: Remove Volleyball Court and Child's Slide, then Landscape to enhance the area.
Location: Fabulous location and great Bars and Restaurants close by.
Stayed September 3rd – 14th 2016. This is a lovely Hotel and we truly enjoyed our Holiday at the Tivoli. It is totally set up for maximum relaxation and the surroundings are incredibly beautiful. Reception and Hall Staff were extremely friendly, efficient and accommodating. We had booked a Garden View, which we got but really not a Garden View as we were overlooking a Children’s Play Area and a Volley Ball Court. This is disappointing as Garden should really mean Garden. Our Room was big and spacious, (a little dated) with all Facilities. The Cleaning Staff who came in daily are really to be admired and complimented, fabulous service and always with a smile, The Dining Room is very spacious and the food choice is adequate, Hot Food should really be served at a higher temperature, while the Boiled Eggs were piping hot, the Bacon, Scrambled Eggs and Beans were always lukewarm, ( no Microwave available to heat them up) Dining Room Staff again extremely polite & helpful (nothing too much trouble) The Grotto Bar & Terrace is absolutely beautiful, and so enjoyable throughout the day and is open until 12 o'clock midnight, however we cannot understand the rush by the Bar staff each evening to “get rid” of the Clients, so they can close. We so enjoyed going there on our first nights, as it was really high temperature outside we enjoyed to go inside in the Air Conditioning, we were so disappointed that the Barman turned it off at 11.30pm as our drinks were being served. They shut do
