Had an amazing week at Monte Dourado resort. Apartments are huge, very clean and well equipped. The pools and grounds are beautiful and well kept and the apartments are perfectly located, just minutes from the beautiful beach, many restaurants and shops. I have to give a mention to the wonderful staff, in particular Esmeralda and Silvia who helped make our stay perfect. Thank you. Highly recommend and we hope to be back xx

Lovely resort
Our appartment was a 2 bed ground floor and was really big in size with a nice patio right on the pool. The pools were all based around a group of appartments and were well looked after. The resort is at a top of a hill but a nice walk down to the town and beach with everything you need a good selection of lovely restaurants Really enjoyed our stay.

Great elevated location - town easily accessible but far enough away to feel private. Great pools and plenty of sun loungers. Easy check in etc. Appartment bigger than expected - could easily accommodate another adult / teenage child with a sofa bed in the lounge. Would have liked a bigger sofa as only 3 inside comfortable seats.

Great location in a cute little fishing village
This is a lovely property in a great location. We paid for a sea view, which is worth the extra money. Although, our sea view was only from one end of the patio. We also upgraded to a "superior" room, although I don't believe our apartment qualified as such. It was dated and dark. There was mold on the shower curtain and it was just a bit neglected. I suppose we paid for the view, but I was under the impression we were also paying for a nicer apartment. Each unit is individually owned, so it's a bit of a gamble where they put you. We stayed here a few years ago and had a wonderful apartment, although no view. I will probably stay here again, but with much lower expectations. They did allow us into the room early and gave us a late check out. Office staff were very nice. Quick 5-7 walk into down, down a steep hill.

Fantastic as always
This was our third time staying at Monte Dourado and as always it definitely lived up to expectations. The room and amenities within the complex were spotless, albeit some amenities within the room could’ve done for an update (fridge, shower, balcony furniture) however this is nit picking as the view from our room and the comfort and cleanliness more than made up for this. Throughout our stay we received such friendly and helpful service as we always have done, which combined with the above means we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again! Thank you for another amazing stay.

Our apartment at Monte Dourado was excellent. It was very comfortable and very spacious. 2 big bedrooms and bathrooms, a large balcony, plenty of kitchen appliances to cook, and was really close to the Carvoeiro shops and restaurants.

Great value for money.
It’s up a big hill with narrow pavements & there are a series of steep up & down steps in the apartment block. No lifts. The location is good though 5 mins to shops, bars & restaurants & the beach. The apartment itself was beautiful, spacious & very well appointed, including the kitchen. There was a good degree of privacy & the maid service was good too. We always had plenty of clean towels. Pools were lovely, not enough sunbeds for everyone but we were able to find some at another pool in the complex. Some of the sunshades were in need of maintenance. Reception was strange. Only staffed during business hours & not like a hotel reception with helpful staff. No porters or assistance offered for luggage or information on the facilities or local attractions. Really just an expensive key repository. I’d have preferred to have been given the code for a key locker so I could have avoided it. Don’t expect any kind of service there. Worth mentioning quite a few of the apartments were for sale & a stranger approached me poolside regarding where I was staying because she was meeting someone. I found it a little disconcerting. I think she might have been an estate agent. Overall I felt safe but it’s a small village & wasn’t peak busy due to the pandemic.

Hidden gem
What a hidden gem, had a great time and enjoyed the fireplace in the evening. It’s close to everything that you need with amazing sunsets. Not our last time staying there.

The service was outstanding! The resort allows customers to check out at 2:00, if possible. The front desk was extremely helpful and courteous. We encountered some problems with our unit that were addressed promptly. Our first floor unit had no ocean view from the living room but a lovely view from the bedroom. The second floor units appear to have views from both rooms. The apartment was in need of updating but was clean and pleasant. Although noting fancy, the apartment was comfortable for our needs, and we considered it a good value and a good place from which to explore the area. I would suggest calling the resort to confirm which unit is being booked.

Monte dourado .... fabulous
Just got back from an amazing week at monte dourado .... great value, great accommodation. very spacious and clean. Good maid service and up keep of towels etc Each little complex area has its own pool area which was great and a few steps away from villa Good location etc but not for anyone with mobility problems as very hilly but great if don’t mind the walk or if you have a car . Taxi easy too and cheap if don’t want to walk but it’s not far from centre Would go back in a heartbeat

Accommodation good, pool small but nice. Clean rooms and towels. Up a hill so need to be fit or get taxis. Beach small so no good for a stroll. Not ideal for young children, lots of shells so footing hard at waterline with a drop of afoot to 2.

We stayed in Bouginvilla apartment no 9. The apartments are privately owned and some are better than others. Our apartment was on the ground floor near the pool. Are only problem was the mattresses i the 2nd bedroom were the most uncomfortable ever. every movement was spring boung sound and awful.As there were only 2 of us we moved to the other bedroom which was fine..No air conditioning in ours..Other than that we enjoyed our stay. It was peaceful.

Perfect Resort
Carviero is a fantastic resort, and Monte Dourado ia the perfect plact to stay. The views out to see are amazing and its 5 mins from everywhere. Yes the hill is steep but dont let that put you off. Our apartment was amazing and very well furnished.

Great sunset views over the bay of Carvoeiro. Nice to be slightly removed from tthe town thanks to the steep hilltop location. Room sizes were big with generous balconies, living rooms etc.

We had two units and both were very dated, comfortable for those used to 3 star and below level accomodations, mostly long term stay guests and better suited for an older crowd. Be aware different units may have drastically different finishes and furnishings. Relatively poor customer service at desk and like the town the locals are abivalent and unfriendly. Doesn't feel particularly safe. The same property management company has newer developments which may be better, but it certainly feels like nodoby cares at Monte Durado as it ages not so gracefully.

Our unit was clean, comfortable and spacious and we loved the location and convenience to the town and beach. However, the in-room amenities were below my expectations. There was a full kitchen, but no coffee maker, dishsoap, dishwasher soap and the steak knives were blunt. Pretty nice bathrooms, but no body soap or shampoos. Our patio door didn't lock, but they provided a wood stick to place in the track and you could see daylight through a hole in the middle of the wooden front door. Finally, the internet was incredibly slow and we were unable to use most functions on our cell phones.

Spacious two bed apartment with en suite facilities and a lovely communal pool right outside the French windows. If the apartment had been refurbished, in particular the dreadful bathroom and shower cubicle, I wouldn't be able to fault this place at all. Unfortunately, my kids and I found the shower cubicle/bathroom/toilet disgustingly old and dingy. Yes, they were cleaned every day, but they still felt grubby and gunky. I could only recommend this resort if you could pick the apartment and assure yourself that the bathrooms had been updated

What a find, great resort
A wonderful resort in a tranquil location on the hill just above Carvoiero. Clean well equipped apartment. Heated swimming pool and fabulous views of the area. Great sunsets from the balcony. As the apartments are on the hill you need to be reasonably fit. Easy access to the town and beach.

Comfortable hotel close to amenities
We elected to experience Portugal having never visited for any extended period. We found the facilities most comfortable and convenient. The accommodation was most adequate -- we came at the end of summer/fall and as a consequence the weather was a small issue -- cold during our stay, particularly at night, and we were not used to the cool! It did not deter us from our otherwise full and interesting stay.

Wonderful spacious apartment in a great location
Really spacious apartment and proper sized beds, king size with a memory foam mattress in one of the bedrooms was a blessing given both my small children wanted to sleep in the same bed as me. Nice and quiet at night and with shutters so no dazzling light in the morning to wake my little beauties. Wonderful having 2 bathrooms, dishwasher and washing machine (I know, I know, I even had a reality check that these items now excite me on holiday). Apartment was very well equipped and everywhere is kept super clean, the cleaner was lovely, really friendly and super efficient (if only she lived near me at home I'd hire her!). Our apartment over looked the tennis courts and our buildings pool, very nice too, the apartments overlooking the sea are a bit special though for the view, if you can stretch a bit I would go for one of these. Big pool was a bit more lively as in there were more people around it, still very chilled, so we used to go up there in the afternoon. Really close to the town, and beach, just be prepared for the steep hill, I know everyone mentions it, it does take a bit of energy, pushing a buggy and a baby strapped to me with bags of shopping took me 3 stops to catch my breath but definitely do-able. And comical to watch the other half showing off by tearing up the hill, after a few pints watching the football, and nearly collapse at the top. The whole place is hilly so it does not apply to just this hotel. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Love this place!
This is the second time I've stayed here and will definitely be back next year. Great apartments clustered around small pools make it very peaceful. Never had a problem getting a sunbed, but there is a larger pool if you want company. Pool towels are provided. Apartments cleaned regularly and very well equipped with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine and TV. Only downside is that wifi is a bit 'hit and miss' so access to internet is limited. Within walking distance to centre of town (although quite a steep hill to get back up)! All in all a great place to holiday.

Had a lovely time at Monte Dourado Resort however there some noise due to building renovations.As a result we left the resort after only three days.

This is a really nice complex but you do need to be aware it is a hilly location so for us we needed to get a taxi back from the village in the evenings. We were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary and we received a nice bottle of bubbly and chocolates from the staff! Very clean apartment with a nice sea view and overall a very nice complex.
