The best area to stay in Agkathia is the main Agkathia village, particularly around the harbour and the main square. This area is the heart of Agkathia and offers a blend of convenience and authentic local life. You'll find a selection of tavernas, cafes, and local shops lining the harbourfront and extending into the narrow streets behind the main square. The village is compact and easily walkable, with the Church of Agia Fotini being a great landmark.Couples looking for a relaxed holiday will find the village centre ideal. It provides easy access to the harbour for boat trips and offers a pleasant evening stroll with plenty of options for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere is generally quiet, especially after the daytime bustle of the harbour subsides. For families, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre, perhaps a short walk up the hill, can offer more spacious accommodation options, often with private pools. These areas still provide convenient access to the village amenities but with a bit more privacy and room for children to play.

The best time to go to Agkathia is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and early October. These months offer pleasant weather with warm temperatures, ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find the sea is warm enough for swimming, and the natural beauty of the area, like the wildflowers in spring or the clear skies in autumn, is at its best. For those looking for a relaxing beach holiday, these periods provide a more tranquil experience. You can easily find a good spot on the less crowded beaches, and restaurants are busy but not overwhelmed, ensuring attentive service and a calm atmosphere. It's superb for couples or solo travellers who appreciate a peaceful escape. While July and August offer the hottest weather, they also bring the largest number of visitors, leading to busier beaches and higher prices.
