Architect designed to maximise the panoramic sea and mountain views, Thea Zalia offers you the perfect place to relax and unwind. Only a short walk from Sellia, a small, quiet, rural village with many older homes and plenty of traditional Cretan charm. There are quality restaurants, using locally sourced food and offering traditional Cretan hospitality, with stunning views of Plakias bay. You’ll also find a small mini market selling fresh locally grown vegetables and good wines together with basic essentials. Larger supermarkets are to be found in the resort of Plakias, a seven minute drive away. Clear blue seas and quiet beaches are in abundance in this area, all within a five to twenty minute drive. The resort town of Plakias offers good restaurants, bars and shops but remains low key. Thea Zalia's main en-suite bedroom (with bath) offers panoramic sea and mountain views from the super king sized bed. On clear days you can also see the island of Gavdos. A double bedroom, with oak wood flooring has a kingsize bed with pool and sea views and opens onto a terrace .The third bedroom is a twin, which can also be made up into a kingsize bed. It looks onto the mountains with the village sheltering beneath. These bedrooms share a large wet-room. There is air conditioning throughout with a wood burning fire for the cooler months. The contemporary kitchen is fully equipped, including a capacious fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. From here large sliding windows lead to a shaded outside dining space, to the swimming pool and beyond to sea views. The spacious living area is thoughtfully furnished with comfortable seating for all guests. Satellite TV with English-speaking channels, a dvd player and free WIFI are installed here. The open plan dining space has an large table, appropriate for informal eating or fine dining and perfect for celebratory meals. The house is designed to shelter the pool and patio from the warm but familiar sirocco winds known in all the Greek islands. The fabulous pool is ideal for both the confident swimmer and the beginner, it has a shallow paddling area with safe graduated steps into the main pool. The space around the house has been landscaped and just below the house an ancient winnowing circle has been reinstated to provide an extra social space for star gazing. Planting is taking place echoing the natural environment of wild flowers and hardy bushes. The area does have strong winds from time to time and these are more common in the summer months. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the living room has large windows and high ceilings, making it feel spacious. The master bedroom suite overlooks Sellia, the mountain range, and the sea. The outdoor area features a fantastic infinity pool with views of the sea and mountains. The property is close to lovely beaches like Souda, Plakias, Damnoni, and Ammoudaki. It's also within walking distance of the center of Sellia, where there are great restaurants like Elia, Kounenos Grill, Panostrati, and Merastri. Joseph, our host, was very responsive and provided all the information we needed for a fantastic stay. Andreas came by almost every day to take care of the pool and garden. The building and outdoor areas are well designed to lessen the impact of the seasonal Meltemi winds, which often occur in the area. ##### Lieven U. Beautiful spacious villa with all mod cons. Views to die for! The master bedroom is absolutely amazing. We did not want to leave. The villa is immaculately presented. |t has been very thoughtfully built and furnished. Only an 8 min walk to village where there are 2 fantastic tavernas. We walked into Plakias which took 45 minutes (nice views all the way down) and got a taxi back - all very easy. Plakias has all you would wish for; great supermarket, bars and restaurants. Beaches well served; especially eastern end. We did not get time to do everything we wanted to do so just had to book again for next year. Van alle gemakken voorzien. Gelegen in een rustig dorpje op een berg. Heerlijk zwembad. We hebben eerder villa’s geboekt via Vrbo. Maar deze stak er met kop en schouders bovenuit. ##### Noel O. Das Haus hat einen atemberaubenden Blick, und die riesengroßen Fenster erlauben, ihn auch an windigen Tagen zu genießen. Alles Nötige ist da, um sich perfekt zu entspannen. Die Kommunikation klappte hervorragend, Joseph hat sofort auf unsere Anfragen reagiert. Einmal haben wir uns ausgesperrt, aber Klausi hat es innerhalb von einer Stunden geregelt bekommen - und das am Sonntag! Und die im Haus zurückgelassenen Wertgegenstände wurden uns umgehend nach Hause geschickt. Noch ein Vorteil - die Restaurants in Sellia sind in ein paar Minuten Gehzeit zu erreichen - wir haben besonders die Küche und die Herzlichkeit in "Kouneno" genossen. ##### Lina P. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im Mai sehr genossen. Das Haus hat ein herrliches Panorama und eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre. Im Pool konnten uns immer erfrischen. Das Dörfchen Selllia mit seinen beiden guten Restaurants ist gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Der Meltimi ( der berüchtigte Wind) pfiff ein paar Tage und wir haben es uns drinnen gemütlich gemacht. Gechillt haben wir meistens in der nahegelegenen der Bucht Souda. Klausi , der Betreuer des Hauses, war sehr hilfsbereit . Wir können die Location aus Herzen empfehlen. ##### Samira M. Wir waren Mitte März in Kreta. Der Blick aus dem Haus ist fantastisch, das Haus selber auch. Obwohl es durchweg gutes Wetter war, ist die Region und konkret die Lage des Hauses extrem stürmig. Wir konnten uns aussen überhaupt nicht aufhalten. Ich weiss nicht, wie es im Sommer ist, im Frühjahr muss man das aber bedenken und lindert die Nutzung. ##### Markus B. Besser, als es Fotos zeigen können. Sehr groß und äußerst gelungen eingerichtet (warum ist mein Haus nicht so?), großer Pool (wurde fast täglich gereinigt), beschattete Terrasse. Im Dorf hinter dem Haus drei sehr gute Restaurants, mehrere schöne Strände in 10-20 min Entfernung (Auto). Wir hatten im August 2 Wochen fast konstant starken Wind, daran muss man sich erst gewöhnen, aber dann eben auch angenehme Kühlung (wird in den Momenten ohne Wind deutlich). Thea Zalia is an incredible property that is even better in person than the pictures in the listing suggest. We lacked for nothing and felt spoiled by the amazing amenities. The views from the front of the property over the sea are second to none. The village of Sellia was warm and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the restaurant Elia - so much so that we went back for a second night. The recommendations in the welcome packet (sites to visit, restaurant recommendations, etc.) were especially helpful as we planned our days. It felt like every day brought another stunning surprise with beautiful scenery, great hikes, and dips in the (bit frigid) sea around every corner. Weather was just perfect and it felt great to our cold Scottish bones (we are from San Diego on an expat assignment in Edinburgh). Joseph was very responsive and always available through the booking process. Cannot recommend this property any higher! ##### Jim B. Die Fenster sind was besonderes und geben einen wunderschönen Blick auf die Natur frei. Auch im Winter ist das Haus zu empfehlen, ein Bad in Badewanne mit Aussicht in die Wolken ist Erholung pur. Das Haus ist großzügig und für Familie bestens geeignet. Herr Sanderson ist immer schnell zu erreichen und unterstützt einem umgehend bei jedem Problem. Besonders im Winter ist die Aussicht sehr vorteilhaft und man freut sich auf das Haus ,auch wenn das Wetter mal nicht so toll ist. ##### Nicole R. Das Haus entspricht exakt dem Inserat, gar nichts ist geschönt!! Ein Auto unerlässlich, es gibt zahlreiche wunderbare Buchten. Im Ort gibt es zwei sehr gute Tavernen, besonders hervorzuheben ist die Taverne Elia. Bitte reservieren! Einzig der Meltemi war bei unserem Aufenthalt 25.9\. bis 5.10.2021 sehr stark! ##### Doris M.
