Just 7 miles from downtown Indian River, this rustic cabin sits a mere 25’ from the edge of the Pigeon River, a blue-ribbon trout stream popular with fly fishing anglers. It is a perfect 4 season get-away with easy year-round access. Enjoy snowmobiling, fishing or hunting footsteps from the door. It can be your home-base for exploring Northern Michigan - an easy drive to Petoskey, Mackinaw City, Cheboygan, Gaylord, and just minutes from Indian River and Burt Lake. It is very close to 5 Little Traverse Conservancy properties for those who enjoy hiking.
This 1940’s-built cabin is cozy - 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each. The screened-in porch is the perfect place to relax with a book and a beverage, or to simply listen to the River.
This is the ideal place to disconnect. There is no Wi-Fi, but a strong cell phone signal so a hotspot works well; the TV gets several PBS channels and sometimes network channels if the weather is perfect and the leaves have falln from the trees, . There is a DVD player and an eclectic collection of DVDs available. The bathroom has a shower only; there are overhead fans in all rooms as well as portable fans.

Great stay - it’s the little things!

We were very happy with the care taken by the owner to make for a comfortable stay. Everything we ever could have needed - coffee, bottled waters, dog bowls!, you name it. Very charming cabin right on the water, with fire pit. Plenty of nice hiking spots within a short drive.

Beautiful cottage. Perfect stay.

My partner and I got to spend 5 perfect days at this cotttage. Close to lots to do, it was a perfect home base as we visited Rodger’s City, Indian River, and Wolverine. We went fly fishing right outside the cabin and looked for Elk down the street at the state park (didn’t see any!). The cottage was clean and had a perfect screened in porch to drink our morning coffee and have an evening cocktail. We hope to get back again soon!

This cabin is so tranquil. The screened in porch is so cozy and to hear the river is just absolutely beautiful. We kayaked and were able to get out right at the cabin. The beds are comfy. The charm of the cabin is the sweetest. Plans to return already.

Knotty Pine Perfection!

I've rented summer vacation cottages in Northern Michigan for over 35 years, and this is one of the best. This is a beautifully maintained knotty pine cottage in a perfect location on the Pigeon River. Super clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything you need. A great location to explore Northern Michigan or relax on the screen porch and listen to the river flow. Very relaxing! Don't miss Ocqueoc Falls. It's truly breathtaking (and fun to swim in). Great Cabin!!

What a wonderful stay we had at this quaint, clean, warm and inviting cabin! It was exactly what we were looking for - a place to relax, kayak, and escape from all our to-do's. We LOVED kayaking the Pigeon River, which runs directly behind the cabin. (we liked it better than the Sturgeon). Mornings were peaceful and perfect on the screened-in porch, evenings were quiet and relaxed around the campfire. The owners were very accommodating and quick to respond to our questions. Just an awesome experience all around! Would definitely recommend and would definitely LOVE to come back again.

Peaceful & Relaxing Little Retreat!

Pictures and Descriptions are Spot on! ... You Are Right ON the Pigeon River (as in 25-30ft from the bank!) Very quaint and Simple anemities, but sufficient. Don't Expect extravagance- It IS a 1946 Cabin in the woods! Only 3-4 'over the air' TV channels on the TV, but they Do have a DVD Player and a selection of DVD's... Or Bring your own favorite movies! But Chris was Outstanding in working to accommodate our Schedule for our Stay! And the Cabin was Very Clean! 👍👍👍

Clean, Communicative, and Beautiful

The cabin is cozy, and has exactly you would need for a good time. The host is communicative and the cabin is organized and labeled in a way that is very useful. The river is beautiful and the cabin is about 20 feet from the banks. Screened in porch as well as an outdoor area for a fire or just watching the river. Didn't do any fishing but can imagine this is the perfect fishing spot. Constructive notes would be: It is slightly less remote than it appears in the listing. Beautiful area but you do have neighbors close and close to a road. Only thing missing inside was a cutting board, otherwise a very well stocked kitchen.

Excellent Cozy Cabin Get Away!

The river cabin is an excellent get away destination. It's off the beaten path but not to far from towns if you enjoy shopping and eating out. We enjoyed a peaceful, 'unplugged' weekend in November. The cabin is spotlessly clean and the beds are comfortable. It has such a cozy vibe! It was cold and we enjoyed sitting near the gas 'wood' stove after going hiking. There are several nature preserves in the area. The host is so thoughtful and very responsive. It feels like you are staying in someone's private family cabin, and not just a rental. We were so thankful that they allowed us to bring our dogs, and we made sure we left the place clean and tidy. They even provide leashes, a tieout, and blankets to cover furniture if your dog gets on furniture (ours did not but such a thoughtful gesture). If you are looking for a peaceful cabin get away... book this place!

Adorable Cozy Vintage Cabin on a Lovely River!

This place was so darn cute that as soon as I got there, I was already bummed that I was going to have to leave in 3 days. We rented in the summer, but seems like it would be a great one for the winter or fall too; It's just dripping with cozy charm. There is a cabin close by next door, but no one was there. The river is approachable from the yard and I did some wading on the hotter days. The cabin stays surprisingly cool in hot weather, plus there are ceiling fans, and the owner had extra fans around if needed. Best part for us was the screened back porch. We spent most of our time there, bird watching, playing games, meals, morning coffee. It's small, but just enough room to be comfy. The host left us lots of helpful info, and we felt we could contact them anytime we needed. (This may seem like an odd thing to add, but because the place is small, it's nice to know: The bathroom has a good fan and a window!) About a 10-15 min. drive into Indian River, where there are places to eat/drink/kayak etc. Plus the beach at Burt Lake is really nice! Overall a great experience and my friend and I hope to go back some day!
