"Excellent stay at Mawamba lodge. Gardens around the ground are great and we saw sloths and Toucans a short walk from our room. Breakfast was great as was the dinner we had at the restaurant. Pool can get quite busy with families and children. Town is only a short walk away or they can provide a river taxi. The staff were all very nice and extremely helpful, particularly Leo who was regularly ensuring that we were happy with everything. "Beautiful hotel in a beautiful area. You are not in the main town so do need to get a boat if you want meals elsewhere and they do offer complimentary transport but the last one comes back at 5 so if you want dinner out you have to pay for the boat. That was really the only inconvenience but it wouldn't stop me from booking again. They helped us book the tours and it was easy and practical. "

"The staff is very nice. Book some tours through their partner agency because they have friendly and knowledgeable guides. A few friendly cats in the area, buy some whiskers from the grocery store and make some friends. Sloths in the tree outside. The beach is a few feet away if that’s your thing as well, very shallow water but a refreshing dip. The jungle park is just down the street, 6km out and back close to the beach with some good wildlife. Friendly locals, probably a bit crowded during busy season, but all good vibes. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants but they all have similar menus, not the greatest cuisine but good enough. "
