“Zurich Airport Hotel/Best Western”

We were extremely happy with the greeting we recvd from Ariana at the front desk. Warm, helpful. Great! Thanks for the welcome wine and fruit at arrival. Proximity to airport: 10 minutes. Airport shuttle every 30 minutes Room was comfy, although noisy as there was a once a year festival going on across the street, but since we went to have dinner there, can't complain. Big town, small town feel. Nice. Would stay there again.

Very well located and the early check-in let us get ready to hit the sight-seeing quickly without wasting any time. That was very welcome! Will probably use this hotel when visiting Zurich next--with family! :-)

“Try it if you only plan to spend one night between flights.”

Although the logo of Best Western in the USA does not imply the lap of luxury, it is a testimony of good quality and reasonable abundance. Not in this hotel though, although it proudly sports four stars. The room was tiny (~11’ by 16’) so everything was literally at an arm’s reach and even smaller bathroom. Frugality was bordering stinginess: no cover on the bed except the comforter, only one pillow, no radio/alarm clock, no clock at all in the room (in Switzerland?!), no moisturizer in the bathroom, etc. The most annoying part, however, was the lack of regular shuttle between Zurich airport and the hotel. The shuttle was running only from 5:30 – 10:20 AM and 3 (5 PM Sat/Sun) – 11:30 PM at half an hour intervals. The reason: environmental considerations (the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard)! However, the advice was to use public transportation or taxi (~60 Swiss Francs). For the fairness sake: the hotel was impeccable clean and everybody spoke English. The hotel was overall overprized (like almost all hotels in Switzerland). Thank God, Expedia had a special offer.

“Would not go back”

When we first arrived we thought we had found ourselves a really good bargain. Hotel room was smalll, even by European standards, but after that it all went down hill. The bathroom was not at all cleaned properly, hairs everywhere! Then the next morning we had to deal with reception again, and it was not good! The hair dryer in the room did not work, and when I called down to request one be brought up I was spoken to like an idiot as though I was not turning the hair dryer on properly, this was repeated to me 3 times, and then a lady came up to make sure I really was telling the truth and another 25 minutes passed before I was finally brought one. Then when we were finally leaving we asked if there was a Hard Rock in Zurich and the girl at the desk huffed at us as though we were asking for the moon and then circled a general location on our map and sent us on our way. By the way, there isn't a Hard Rock in Zurich. Finally, when we came back to our hotel the maid had come into our room even though we had the Do Not Disturb sign up and had moved all our things around. We left early, and just to finish off our stay the girl at reception tried to charge us for breakfast even though we had not had it. Just terrible.

This is a clean, efficient hotel. The rooms are quite small, but the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are well laid out. The shuttle service to the airport is frequent and dependable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a room for a night before or after a flight.
