Good Value
The reception was very efficient but with little warmth in the greeting. The room was excellent but the bathroom had a background smell. The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a little noisy as there was what appeared to be a school trip and there was lots of teenagers around. We were happy enough with our stay to book our return trip.

We stayed 3 nights. The room we initially booked was the size of a prison cell so we asked for an upgrade which we paid for despite being silver we pointed this out. Staff helpful with travel and tourist advice. At breakfast omelette made to order. Overall the hotel needed a make over decoration tierd.

The hotel itself is very nice and pleasant. However, the buildings next door looks dated. The hotel is located on a pleasant wide street that go to the center of Vitoria, Spain. The street had several restaurants and we had dinner in one of them. We had an issue with the air conditioning and WiFi initially so we requested a change in room. We got transferred to a very nice room. I also used the garage. It was located below the hotel with an entrance to the hotel. The garage itself was OK, but the entrance looked dated.

Decent Hotel Nothing Special.
Would recommend for business travelers staying one night. Rooms fairly modern and clean. Nothing special about the rooms, no crib provided for our child. Loud banging noises from the rooms or plumbing above. We were on the first floor. A highlight was we found parking close to the hotel for free. It's also an easy walk to the center.

There was NO HEAT in the building. 38 degrees Ft At night. The lady at the desk took mercy on us and gave us a small electric heater. Without that I would have gotten sick.

Hotel is in a good location but has several faults
Located fairly near the old town and the bus station. The hotel has many faults that we encountered. Slow check-in and check out (too busy to greet us immediately), very dusty rooms, A/C simply fails to give out proper cool air, cheap bed linen (think cheap blanket in between bed sheets), the TV remote failed, hairs found on bed and in the bathroom on arrival, no wifi in rooms. Would think there are better hotels in the town

The room was very clean. The hotel was located in a good location near shops. Unfortunately the room did not have wifi coverage which was disappointing as the staff was aware and it made it hard to plan our trip. They also advertise wifi in all rooms.

Bad Wifi; very unconcerned staff
This is not a place to stay if you have work to do on your computer and require free Wifi. You have to go to the cramped lobby and hope for a connection. The two staffers at the desk were not only unhelpful but clearly making it evident I would go away. The rooms are terrible small, and I could not get the heat to come down and threw off the covers to get any sleep at all. The room is very tiny, approximately mausoleum size, and the black painted walls add to that funereal effect. In short, never here again. Vitoria has great lodgings. Choose one o fthe other options.

Dark and creepy
The hotel is relatively close to the medieval neighborhood, but not exactly there. First day I took a while to find our way to the touristic area. The hotel is in the middle of apartment bullildings. We were able to open the balcony door and hear children crying and sounds of every day life. The city was "dead" from 2 to 4, so it was weird walking around and no one around. The hotel is paired in very dark colors. The halls have no natural light at all. The staff was nice and kept our luggage for a few hours to accommodate our departure. They are fixing the Main Street where the hotel is located. It should look a lot nicer once finished.... Visit Atapalpa. Best coffee ever!

Decent hotel
Location of this hotel is not bad. It is quick to walk in to the city center. However, surroundings are a bit depressive and at my stay full of construction works. The hotel room was clean but very small and the "window" was facing in to a depressing light shaft. Staff were friendly and supportive but increadibly slow.

Close to historical down town district.
The first bad thing was they had no record of our inlcuded breakfast buffet. The hotel was very gloomy and sad, everything was dark colors, the walls, the paintings and the people were very uncaring. I had to down load a copy of my reservation so they would allow the included breakfast buffet.

A bit depressing
Parking which costs €15.00 is very tight and not recommended if you have a large car or are not good in tight spaces. The entrance from the garage is dark and dingy and doesn't smell good. Overall impression was poor. Maybe it was just our taste but it seems like the whole place needs brightening up. The help were friendly. Not one I would use again.

We booked a stopover on the way back from Portugal for 2 adults, 2 children and our 6kg puppy. We checked in with no problem (with puppy for the whole 15 minute check in process and chap behind the desk commenting on what a nice dog) but an hour later the same chap on reception told us we couldn't have a pet in the room. I showed the pet confirmation on the booking again but he insisted the dog be be left outside the hotel for the night or we had to leave. So at 9pm we had to get our young children back out of bed and leave. Hotels.com were great and found us an alternative (2hrs drive away as it was a holiday weekend) but I was not impressed with the AC or it's staff.

AC Hotel General Álava (Marriott0, Vitoria-Gasteiz
The hotel was well situated for access to the medieval centre, it is a simple walk in. The hotel reception staff were very nice and the ones I dealt with spoke English. Close to the hotel, there were plenty of cafes and some nice restaurants. Parking was ok, you just had to drive around a bit to find somewhere in the surrounding streets, if you did not want to use the hotel car park. The centre of Vitoria was very nice and we enjoyed walking around it. Vitoria made a good base for exploring the local area. We used the Tourist office in the Plaza to get some great ideas and one day we drove off to see walled Laguardia as a result.

It was 34 degrees when we arrived in Vitoria, so easy parking, friendly helpful staff and effective air conditioning were very welcome. It's not cheap but it feels reasonably luxurious and its a short walk into town where the bars and coffee shops are great
