Clean, modern, nicely situated. Air conditioning works well. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Lots of shopping all around the hotel. Parking is a little confusing when arriving, since it's off-site.

The hotel is located right across from Visp train station. We chose to stay here as an overnight stop for our journey from Interlaken to Zermatt. The staff were courteous, room was clean & a free breakfast was provided - this sufficed for our overnight stay.

Great hotel, lovely town
Great hotel right next to train station. The old town of Visp is charming and well worth an hour or two wandering around.

I didn't like that there was no staff on hand after a certain hour. Our sheets were dirty and the room smelled like a dog. The staff did make it right by giving us a new room, but it was a hassle to go down stairs and call the phone at the reception desk. Also, the restaurant closed early and we were given a sigh followed by a "we close in 15 minutes," when ordering our welcome drink.

Baxter hotel is decent, clean hotel very close to train station at Visp. I would stay here again when visiting Visp or Zermatt. We initially booked for 1 night but ended up staying for 2 nights. This hotel has free parking which is located at the parking for train station but little section reserved for guests at the hotel. The ladies at the reception were very helpful. Free breakfast at the hotel is basic with eggs, beans, cereals, cheese and meats.

Following completion of renovations, they have decided to change their name from Visperhof to Baxter Hotel, even though no change in management. Whilst there is an interesting heritage background to this, I preferred Visperhof as it clearly describes what it is, and we have already been staying there for about 10 years now. Regardless, this is and always has been an excellent hotel, steps away from Visp station but not noisy. Maintained to a high level. Lovely breakfast on the rooftop. We always have dinner at the lovely classically Swiss restaurant Terrasse, a short walk away at the start of the old town. It all makes for a perfect stopover on the way to Zermatt. Don’t rush your arrival there, late at night, in fading light or darkness, maybe even missing your first dinner. Have a relaxing evening and a delicious meal in Visp, before making your way up to Zermatt in the morning (old Visp itself is well worth a walk-around first if you have time), enjoy the train journey and dramatic scenery in bright light, before arriving at the perfect time of day, hopefully sunny with clear views of the majestic Matterhorn. Always a perfect start to our Zermatt holidays!

Good Hotel to stay for work
Hotel is centrally located in the middle of Visp. Only nuisance was the hotel restaurant was not open on sunday. I know most places close on sunday in Switzerland but after travelling nearly 9 hours it was a big disappointment not being able to have a nice meal. Breakfast however, was lovely. Overall it is a lovely hotel and is currently under going a revamp.

This place was fabulous! It is right by the train/bus station, which was perfect for us. It was really nice and modern and we had a balcony. The breakfast was delicious. For people traveling like us, you can take the train or bus to places close by, and it's only about an hour or less to Zermatt, or an hour to Sass-Fee by bus. I absolutely recommend this hotel. We didn't have time for the restaurant but there was always lots of people there and it looked really relaxing. Bonus, the room had air con.
