“Excellent base for Vienna”
Hotel very well run, excellent staff, extremely good breakfast, superior room worthwhile. Hotel very close to underground and easy walk into the centre of city. Recommended for short or longer breaks.
“You must try the breakfast!”
Make sure your booking includes breakfast as the choice is excellent - fill up and you won't need lunch. The Kummer is very conveniently situated opposite an underground station, three stops from the centre (St. Stephen's Cathedral). The bathrooms seem to have been renovated recently - they are spotless and modern. Don't worry about being on the main shopping street - when the double glazed windows are closed, you cannot hear a thing.
“Top Class Hotel!”
A1, Well pleased, our stay was wonderful from start to finish, the room was first class and the staff were as well, I would have to single out walter for praise he made our stay even better as he tendered to our needs.
“Wonderful.”
We had a truly lovely 5 day break with this Hotel being perfect for us. Clean, warm, great breakfast, helpful polite staff...what more do you need? Oh and great location too!
“Lived up to expectations”
Couldn't beat this hotel for location. Within walking distance to excellent restaurants, major sightseeing attractions and right in the middle of shopping paradise. The hotel has a pleasant bar, helpfull staff and a delicious, substantial breakfast is included. One small negative was that the room was quite warm for sleeping and could be noisy if you opened the window. However, this would not deter us from staying at this hotel again should we return to Vienna. I would highly recommend it.
“We went initially for the Xmas markets and thought they were one of the best we had visited.”
Very pleased with our choice of Hotel Kummer. Central, and opposite the underground station we used every day. No problem with noise as the room was sound proofed. Staff pleasant. Good breakfast.
“Shopping central”
We took our trip to spend Christmas in Vienna. The hotel is right in the middle of the Mariahilfenstrasse shopping drag. If you are into the universal high street where it's hard to work out which country you're in, you'll be at home here. English is spoken everywhere (along with just about any other language) Well served by the U-Bahn, cabs and busses I'm guessing the females of the species would be in their element. If it was open! Lads- take a tip, it all closes down on December 23rd, and doesn't re-open until maybe the second of January. Cheap shout eh? The restaurants and cafes also shut, but luckily a bit further up the road and down the side streets, one can find Czech, Indian, Chinese, Italian, and the more basic stuff like kebabs and pizzas on the street. Central Vienna was still running the Gluhwein markets, as was Schoenbrau, so liquid warmth guaranteed. Most museums open, but the Furniture museum was very good.
“Just the right location”
I have been visiting Vienna every year for nearly thirty years now and have stayed in numerous hotels. The last four or five times I have stayed at the Kummer because it has everything you could want: very friendly and obliging staff, excellent breakfast choice, and a very convenient location with the U3 underground line right outside the hotel. Although the Mariahilferstrasse is the equivalent of London's Oxford Street, once you are behind those double windows, you cannot hear a pin drop! The air conditioning is a little noisy at times, but there's an inner door you can close which minimises the sound - I always sleep like a baby there. I would thoroughly recommend the Kummer - 3 underground stops from the Stephansplatz Cathedral square.
“A taste of Hapsburg Vienna”
An excellent C19th hotel metres from the U Bahn. Wonderful interior and very good service. Rooms well appointed and helpful staff. A good hotel to explore one of Europe's great cities.
“Handy hotel in Vienna”
Hotel is opposite a station on U3 which is useful for the railway stations and the city centre. Some nice Austrian restraunts within walking distance (in the back streets - recommended by receptionist). Museum quarter and the Dom are walking distance, but the U-bahn is easier. Hotel is quiet and clean. The bar is well stocked and the breakfast buffet is impressive. Nice place.
