“The heart of Veracruz”
The hotel is located right next to the Zocalo, where most of the traditional activities happen. Everything is within walking distance. Hotel was clean and the staff were courteous and helped when requested. On the flip side, the rooms on the front of the hotel, with the balconies, have very poor sound proofing, which made it impossible to sleep at night without the use of earplugs, due to all the music being played til the wee hours of the morning. I went there to experience the music so I didn't mind as much, however, if you want to sleep, rent a room in the back of the hotel. This is my second time in this hotel, having stayed there about 15 years ago, and I would go there again for a similar experience. Enjoy!
“Bad service, bad hotel, never go back to this hotel .......”
Never been here again, this hotel sucks for the quality of service, employees and never look for the clients interest. However it has a great view and location. It´s a shame not have a good front desk !!!!!!!
“A great Stay!”
Simply a great stay...very good location in a very romantic setting...the hotel service was great..nice pool and extremely efficient staff.
“Veracruz Carnaval 2010”
The staff is formal and reserved. Yet efficient. No frills here. This is not a luxury hotel even if it is one of the cities oldest and most established. If you want rustic, noisy and real Mexico then this hotel is a perfect location. If you are prissy and fussy then do not book here. This hotel is clean, well furnished with no amenities. NO blow dryer and no luxury. The location is it's main appeal. If you want finer property located in the Zocalo then look to Hotel Diligencias (extraordinary history since 1860's) however the balcony view will not compare.
“Can do better”
The hotel looks good from the outside... Once inside though, it's really not that great. Hotel itself and rooms need some serious updates. Bathroom was not really clean, and it seemed like the windows had not been opened for weeks. Staff at the reception desk was not helpful at all when it came to answering very simple questions such as "where is a good place to eat". However, the hotel is in a great location: restaurants, markets, etc... close by.
“Nice Hotel in the historic part of Veracruz”
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The reason we were in Veracruz was because of a sporting event so we just needed a place to sleep. The room was spacious and clean and well serviced. The parking was very well organised and the security was good. The hotel is situated downtown with lots of resturants and entertainment outside and because our room was on the other side of the building, we did not hear a thing.
“Just in downtown of Veracruz”
Well this hotel must not be a 5 stars one, but it is comfortable and gives you what you need, the best of all is that it is just in the downtown of Veracruz, you just have to cross the front door and you are in the "Portales" where you can enjoy of Veracruzan music, concerts, shows, restaurants, etc...
“Great Stay”
Booked the hotel for a 16 day stay and was more than satisfied. It is right on the zocalo and has very secure parking. Have satyed in many hotels in veracruz and this one tops them all.
