The owner's nephew was on his day off, and saw me outside the hotel as he was passing by. When he saw me trying to call to check in, he stopped to check me in! Now that's service!

The hotel was very clean and had a cosy family-run feel (the staff were friendly & helpful). Being able to use the dining room to eat your own food or make a coffee/tea was a bonus. The location was great as well, within walking distance to the Mercat, sights and shops, as well as to the train and bus stations. A thoroughly enjoyable stay!

Great place to stay
Fantastic place to stay on a budget. Friendly reception, great communal area, comfortable bed, powerful shower. Everywhere was clean. Amazing attention to detail. We had a private in suite bathroom but some rooms are not. Reasonably priced off site parking but does get busy. Would definitely stay again as easy to walk to shops and attractions. Stayed November 2023.

I want to mention that Albert checked us in and he was so friendly and helpful. He gave us a lot of tips on where to go and how to get there. The hostel had character and was very eclectic and cute. Two downsides were that there was no aircon and the bathroom door was a curtain. Thankfully, the ceiling fan had a high speed!

Exceeded Expectations
I was not expecting much - but was blown away. Check in was easy and staff incredibly friendly and helpful The facility was clean and secure. Lots of friendly and helpful information - they have their own map map for the city as well as walking paths under the metro. Very impressed and the location is perfect between bus stations, old town and the ocean/marina.

This small hotel delivers a basic, clean and comfortable environment. I went to Tarragona to work for four days and chose the Pigal due to its proximity to the Port, I then found that it is almost in the centre with good access to all the shops and restaurants. at the price they offered for the room I expected worse and was surprised to find that it was more, much more than adequate. I need to say that one of the things that impressed me most was the helpfulness of the staff, they could not have gone further to help me.

Noisy & basic. "Private bathroom" is down the hall
I checked the "room details" before booking, and I now realise that the list is totally inaccurate and misleading. From their list of facilities: Blackout drapes/curtains - hardly when there are huge gaps all around Electric kettle - not provided Espresso maker - not provided In-room safe - not provided Private bathroom - not provided Soundproofed rooms - not provided Washer/dryer - not provided Very noisy hotel. The "private bathroom" is outside the room and down the hall - now what I consider a "private bathroom" and not explained prior to booking

Mr. James Quin, It is very important to know how to read well. And also important not to lie...You say the private bathroom is at the hall. Let me tell you that bathroom that is at the hall ( ground floor ) is for everbody that needs it. Your bathroom was at the first floor as your room and private!!! About the rest of lies you said we will not say anything...we can not loose our time. Next time you want to book a room we can help you to read and choose. We hope to see soon. Xavi

Great Little Find
Very rarely leave a review, but Hotel Pigal definitely deserves one. This basic but very clean hotel is superbly situated to see all that Tarragona has to offer. Xavier was a fantastic host and certainly added to the charm of the place. Would highly recommend.

An excellent budget hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. As a solo traveller who did not need any bells and whistles, this hotel suited me perfectly! My only mild inconvenience was the lack of air conditioning. The curtain for the bathroom is of no concern when traveling alone.

Nice hotel with a very attentive host. The rooms were very clean, though a bit small, and the beds comfortable. There was no air conditioning so we slept with the ceiling fan on and the balcony door open (very hot in the summer). Tarragona is pretty small and you can get to all the main attractions in under 20 minutes walking.

Classy, quirky, clean and a warm welcome
Everything about this classy, quirky hotel was excellent. I’d seen other reviews that, quite rightly, praise the owners - Xavi is indeed an excellent, friendly, knowledgeable host. We travelled into Tarragona by train so it was a short walk to the property which is located an easy distance from everything in this compact city. The hotel is spotless throughout. Due to circumstances beyond their control, breakfast was unavailable but there are plenty of lovely alternatives nearby - and our refund was in the bank before we returned from our trip. We were asked to treat the comfortable lounge and dining area as our own home - but to be sure to leave the washing up for staff to do (not arguing with that!). Highly recommended.
Dining area - even the Romans knew the importance of hand sanitiser

We booked two double bedrooms for 1 night with my fiance and parents. The property is original and has all we need to spend a good stay. Most important the staff is one of the most friendly, professional and helpful I've never received in any kind of hotel I have ever been (I work in a tourism industry and travel a lot!) Thank you Jose for your warm check-in y Javier for allowing your guest to live a great experience. You made me want to open my own hotel ;) Location central, rooms simple, spacious, clean, comfortable. Definitely recommend for family, couples, backpackers :)

Staff are super friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make your visit more enjoyable! Front desk gave us a map of the city and spent time explaining must-see sights and how to get there. Definitely recommend to anyone planning to visit Tarragona.

Cosy room in the middle of the city
We spent 5 really nice days in Tarragona. Personal was very friendly and welcomed us very well. Pigal is ideally situated in the middle of the city and you can access every spot by foot. Our room on the last floor was bright and cosy.
