It's a casino.

Posted 28-Jun-2015
Pros: Convenience and price.
Cons: More smoke free areas. Better staff training.
Location: Well, it's Fife. You go there to gamble or attend a performance at their showroom. That said, Tacoma has a lot of things to do like the Glass Museum.
We stayed there because we were attending a concert at their property that night and it was convenient. But it's good to remember that the real business there is gambling, and that's what they really want you to be doing. You have to walk through large casino rooms to get to anything else, like the hotel registration desk or the restaurants. Smoking is allowed in most areas and, even though our non-smoking room was clean and comfortable, there was still an odor of stale smoke. The restaurant was actually quite good and moderately priced, but service seemed disorganized. People were having to wait to be seated, but there seemed to be quite a few empty tables available while we were having dinner. The concert venue is about three miles from the hotel, but they have a shuttle available. That was great because the traffic and parking situation seemed pretty chaotic. Unfortunately, the shuttle doesn't seem to operate frequently enough, and the drivers don't seem to be paid enough or treated very well as both ours coming and going were pretty surly and unhelpful. So bottom line was that it was OK, but we were happy to leave the next day.

Pros: Not much. Although breakfast in restaurant was reasonable and good.
Cons: Old and outdated. Not a friendly relaxed atmosphere. No desire to gamble here at all
Location: We were there for the State Track & Field Meet. Didn't have time to do a lot of sight seeing.
It was OK. Wouldn't recommend, way over priced for what you are getting. Security officers every time you turned around, makes you wonder why they need so many? Wasn't a relaxed atmosphere at all. Employees were helpful and friendly though.

Close to the Tacoma Dome

Posted 01-Jun-2015
Pros: It was close to the Dome
Extremely noisy; I felt like I was staying in a college dormitory in Freshman hall. I was quite literally awakened every couple of hours by people speaking at full volume in the hallway at all hours of the night.

Over priced smoke house

Posted 27-Apr-2015
We get to front counter the lady makes us feel bad for booking with Expedia, than she tells us we have to pay an extra $200 deposit because we did. Get to room its a non-smoking room.... It's like the rest of the place so full of smoke you can cut it with a knife. The bed was the only nice thing. The rest of the whole establishment is road hard and coming apart at the seams. Room was dated......

Should be called Gitmo Hotel and Casino

Posted 23-Apr-2015
Pros: The room was very quiet.
Cons: Extensive training on customer service and hospitality.
I do quite a bit of travel and stay at various hotels. My wife and I are medical and mental health professionals and we were in town on business. The room itself was comfortable and quiet but the staff were very unpleasant and unhelpful. We consistently observed a huge level of contempt toward patrons from nearly all staff, however, the staff seemed to laugh with one another and give high-fives to one another. As a patron I felt that I was a nuisance to the employees. Security gave a feel that patrons were not to be trusted and made for a highly anxious experience. I realize this is a casino but I have not experienced this with any other hotel/casino in the past. If you plan to stay be ready to hear about the Slot Club comp meal and how people are always trying to scam the casino out of a dinner. We heard this many times by many staff (we didn't even try to receive the free meal). I recommend staying somewhere else and driving to the casino to gamble.

My stay

Posted 20-Apr-2015
Pros: Very friendly staff and good food.
The facility look very nice, the dinner buffet was very good with many choices. My only real complaint was it seemed there was no venitilation and it was so smokey it was uncomfortable. Rooms were very clean and nice.
