Nice hotel 10 to 30 min from ski

Posted 10-Feb-2015
Right on I70 before the junction to breckenridge. We were 10 min from copper, 20 min from Breck and 35 min from vail. It was perfect, we got to try a day in each resort.

Don't plan on the complimentary airport shuttle

Posted 09-Feb-2015
Cons: If you're going to promote complimentary shuttle service and book guests and scheduled runs, follow the schedule.
When we checked in the evening before, the desk agent asked if we needed transportation airport. He reviewed the shuttle schedule with us and then proceeded to "book" us on the 9:15 am shuttle (the next shuttle was at 9:45 am and too late to get us to the airport for our flight). Our party (all 6 of us) arrived in the lobby prior to 9:05 and waited for our shuttle along with several other guests. We took turns checking outside to be sure to catch the shuttle's arrival. At 9:15 I asked the front desk agent when we should expect the shuttle and she informed me it had already come and gone and wouldn't be back until 9:45 am. She said it must have come early and she thought he had stepped into the lobby and asked if anyone needed the shuttle although - this was not the case - as we were all standing in the lobby. I asked what our alternatives were. Since the shuttle was off schedule, would it arrive early again? Do we need to call a taxi? Can someone drive usWhat's the point of booking the shuttle if its not actually on a schedule? Unfortunately, she wasn't helpful or empathetic to the situation. She didn't offer any alternatives and when asked if she could call us a cab she said she could but couldn't tell is when one could get here. The front desk agent's advice was to take it up with the driver because she had no control over the situation. We had to call for two Ubers to get us the airport in time - due to the hotel's messed up schedule.

Run Down and Not Clean

Posted 08-Feb-2015
Pros: The staff! What a great group of people. They smiled, were courteous and helpful, they were 1st class people.
Cons: Cleanliness! The hotel halls, bathroom, linen, furniture, needs to be remodeled and cleaned. Cleaning the mold off the bathroom vent would be nice too
Location: Breckenridge was a blast, we saw the ice sculptures, fantastic. Skiing was near by, of course, the factory outlet stores were great. Great restaurants
The room smelled and was dated. The bathroom switches were dirty. The walls in the bathroom were dirty. The towels were very old. The bed linen, well, I wish I would have had a sleeping bag I would have felt cleaner. It is in need of updates all around. On the upside the staff was great, they were friendly, helpful and smiling. I guarantee I will never stay there again.

Cons: Everything
The hot tub was disgusting, dirt everywhere. The staff was rude and dismissive. The hotel looks like it needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Nothing is maintained. The showers in the room turned from scalding hot to ice cold. Terrible hotel.

Silverthorn Heat

Posted 01-Feb-2015
Pros: Very clean and the hostess in the breakfast area did a great job of keeping food available and cleaning up when necessary.
Cons: More mature staff at check-in and check-out.
Location: Great skiing and shoe shoeing.
The hotel was extremely hot. Room was 78 degrees when I checked in and never got below 74 unless I opened a window in order to sleep. Hotel staff stated they fixed the problem, but it got worse. I stayed on the 2nd floor and because my ice maker was not functioning, I had to go to the 3rd floor which was even hotter than the 2nd floor. My wife and I actually felt sick because of the heat. If my stay had been more than two nights, I would of checked out. In addition, I was told at checkout that I had received a military discount, of which there was not any proof.

Decent hotel near slopes, icefishing lakes

Posted 30-Jan-2015
Pros: Easy access from Denver, Old Chicago Restaurant on premises
Cons: Limited/tight parking More hanging for clothes--hooks or bar and hangers
Location: Went icefishing with grandchildren at Green Mountain and Wolford Reservoirs
Attempted to check in early to drop off gear, but no rooms available early (hotel reportedly near full--likely). Seemed to be marginally staffed, staff obviously busy though tried to be friendly. Had to inform staff that out of towels in pool area--corrected in a few minutes.

Go elsewhere

Posted 26-Jan-2015
Pros: Convenient location for shopping
Cons: See above. Lots of improvement needed.
The poor experience started with check-in. Had to wait 10 minutes till the maid brought down a list of clean rooms so we could check in. This was at 4:30 pm, well after normal check in time. The heating system was poor. The baseboard heat would not warm the room up. Only after I turned on the extra "A/C" unit and figured out how to get some heat out of it did the temperature of the room become tolerable. Problem was that it came on intermittently and was quite loud. Woke up whenever it came on so did not get a good night's sleep. The TV did not work. Called the front desk about it. They said there was no other complaints and they would let the manager know. No promise to get it fixed. There was no follow-up from the manager/hotel. Not what I would expect for $200/night. Spend a bit extra and stay somewhere else.

Hair balls and Sand Dunes

Posted 23-Jan-2015
Hair balls all over the walls in hot tub area, handfuls of sand and dirt in hot tub. Wasn't cleaned in over 1 month. Gross!! We told staff, they did nothing! Restaurant ran out of fruit and tried to lie about it.

Pros: Pool and breakfast
Cons: Clearer rooms and toilets that flush
Location: SO much to do - but I wouldn't stay here.
The room was filthy and the toilets didn't flush. We were so disappointed and will never go back. We are locals and loved the idea of a fun hotel where we could go once in a while - had a pool and some lofts. Just too dirty to return.
