“S&D”

The hotel was in a great location, our room was spacious and comfortable and we had fantastic breakfasts included in our package. Also the staff were very helpful and friendly in assisting us in finding places to visit and see. Would definitely stay there again!

Area recommendations

All as it was easy to get around on foot.

When to go

We loved the Modern Musuem, at the time of visiting there was a Monet, Turner and Twmbly exhibition. Great!

Must see

Christmas lights - the Swedes embrace Christmas with one shop having fun, quirky window displays. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and rich in culture.

“Really recommend!”

Fantastic location - we ate within a 2 minute walk of the hotel every night, and really nice shops nearby. Friendly staff, nice room with a separate dressing area. Breakfast buffet had a really good range of food and drink. And complimentory pepperkakor - what more could you ask for?!

“hotel riddargartan”

I thought the hotel was great - especially the location. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was tasty. I did come back one night to find police in the lobby and on my floor. There had been a break-in at the hotel and several rooms were broken in to, but not mine. The police entered my room with me and did an inspection. I thought the hotel could have done a better job of informing people of how they were dealing with the situation to ensure my safety.

Area recommendations

I am a shopper so Ostermalm was a great neighborhood for shopping and trendy restaurants.

“Great location”

This hotel was great and the service at the front desk was friendly and very helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was extensive. Room was large and in a quiet location . We would use this hotel again.

The location of this hotel is in walking distance for most of the major tourist attractions, resturants and shopping.

“Will go back”

People are extremely friendly, the cleaning maids included, but may be a bit under staffs otherwise the cleanliness will be better. I hope the management can see this and when I go back again this is improved.

“Riddargatan stay”

The hotel is well located and close to Ostermalmtorg metro station - the only thing is to know where to go. This does mean it has easy access to Strandvagatan and the waterfront in that area. The rooms are really comfortable with typical Swedish design.

Area recommendations

Ostermalm - this is a great area with lots of restaurants, bars and access to museums as well (Wasa museum).

“Wonderful”

Excellent place - very clean, very quiet, very comfortable, walking distance to the main points of interest. The people who work there are really nice. My suitcase got stuck in Montreal for a day - and the hotel concierge took very good care of me. And the food... their breakfast - included in a price of the room - it is something else. The variety, service and quality of the food are exceptional.

Area recommendations

In my experience the best is to stay in City - my choice of hotel was really good - and walk everywhere. Gamla Stan is a must to see - but way too expensive to my taste for staying there. Do not miss a chance to take a boat tour - I took a 2 hours "Canals and bridges" tour - in English - and it started 2 blocks from my hotel.

“Excellent location”

Location is great - just one block from the nearest subway station, lux shopping and Strandväggen/waterfront, where you can catch the cheap sightseeing cruises out to Vaxholm. Reasonable walking distance to Djurgården, downtown, Gamla Stan, etc. The Riddargatan is tucked within a non-descript block of hair salons, cafes and residential lofts and can be difficult to spot - keep your eyes peeled for the discreet 'Hotel Riddargatan' flag out front. It's the only visible clue that the hotel exists. The room was clean and modern, but the housekeeping was unimpressive. My bed wasn't made properly a couple times and used drinking glasses were still on the bedside table where I'd left them the night before. No coffee/sugar/cream refills either. On the second last night housekeeping staff stopped by to ask if my room had been serviced at all - it hadn't. Nevertheless, crummy attention to detail aside, the hotel is cozy, clean and offers a nice complimentary breakfast buffet. The desk staff were very pleasant. Top marks for proximity to sightseeing/shopping, but you might want to take a taxi back to the train station because lugging a suitcase and a carry-on bag there on foot (through February snow) takes longer than you'd think. I'd definitely revisit the Riddargatan - the housekeeping quirks were not that big a deal for me and probably aren't an ongoing issue.

Area recommendations

Even as a solo traveler, Stockholm is a blast. Try to cram in as many sights as possible. Must sees: Djurgården, Skansen, Vasa Museum, Gamla Stan, Kungliga Slottet, Stureplan, City Hall, Observatoriet, etc etc etc. And be sure to take a Strömmen (name of the boat tour operator) sightseeing cruise - they offer several 1-3 hour boat tours out and around Stockholm that are fantastic.

Getting around

Walking is probably best, especially when sightseeing. If necessary, don't hesitate to take the subway - it's clean, fast and quiet.

“Perfect hotel”

Hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel has PERFECT location, and the breackfast was really nice. I should mention - I stayed in the hotel on two different occations. First time, I had a single room with tub, which was perfect. The second time, my room had a shower (which I less prefer), but as I requested - there was no problem to switch to tub :)

This hotel had a perfec location -very central and close to main streets.

Getting around

Although it appears differently on the map, the city is actually rather small, and getting around by foot is easiest (if you stay at a central location). Old city - main station - shopping streets are very close, and the metro actually takes you in round tours.. For more distant location - better use bus (it is very likely to end up cheaper than purchasing metro ticket for 3 days or more).

“3-star room in a 4-star hotel”

I stayed at Hotel Riddargatan during a business trip. The location in the heart of Stockholm was very convenient, the staff extremely nice and professional. The buffet breakfast was fantastic! My single room, however, although it was fine, did not meet the standards of a 4-star hotel. There was a large stain on the armchair someone had tried to clean but it was still visible, floors and bathroom in need of renovation. My overall impression of the hotel is, however, very positive, and I would definitely go back.
