The Dormy Inn Sendai Seaside hotel is a very new hotel, clearly built near the ocean and after the 03/11/2011 tsunami. I didn't expect that it was a fair hike from one of the train station stops out of Sendai, but the hike was pleasant enough, and through a mainly commercial area of large shopping buildings.
The BIGGEST surprise in the location of this hotel I discovered when I arrived to the location after the above mentioned hike - it is located ACROSS THE STREET from Kirin Brewing Sendai facility! YES! Kirin, as in the beer!
So I allowed the friendly staff to store my backpack (since I arrived earlier than check in) and off I went to Kirin for an amazing full brewery tour and tasting! It was fantastic.
The hotel is like other Japanese hotels - spotlessly clean, and maintained. It is attached to an AMAZING onsen building, and that is a huge perk for staying in the hotel. The onsen here rivaled other onsens I have enjoyed in more "famous" onsen towns!
The staff was extremely friendly, and dinner I had in the Kirin restaurant was especially good.
Again, only downside was if you walk, it's a bit of a hike (20 min) to the train. If you drive, it's easy. Large lot. Sendai City is vibrant and fun!
