Good sized room with 2 double beds, hotel staff was very helpful in ordering me a taxi for the morning.
It seems that not many foreigners stay in this area, or at least they weren't out on the streets when we were, but that added a lot more to the feel and culture of the place.
Finding a restaurant to eat in was interesting, but very fun. We found a place where no one spoke any English, but they had 1 Enlish menu. Ordering took some time, but was well worth it. The food was amazing and the sake was the best I've ever tasted.
The hotel is situated right on the edge of the red light district which looked to be only one street. We (3 guys) walked down it on the way to dinner and no one was pushy. We were only approached by one guy asking us what we wanted, we told him we were after food and he left us alone.
There's an alcohol store on the corner just a few shops away.
The overall neighbourhood felt very safe.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They spoke very little English, but they spoke enough for a a cheap hotel reception. They were able to book me a taxi for the morning and they gave me directions to my friends hotel not far away.
hotels.com told me the hotel reception was only open from 7am until 11pm. This is wrong. I got home close to midnight and someone was there, and I left at 630am and there was someone there.
