Thank you Jessica for working with me. Due to the wedding and check in (3:00pm)and the server crashing ALL at the sometime, Jessica worked it out and all went well. Only problem was the shower only had HOT water. Would defiantly stay again at the lodge.

An option when not traveling on an expense account

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: The room rate for a mid-week stay was a lot more reasonable than other establishments in the area.
Cons: My room faced the parking lot where the hotel seemed to store their equipment and old furniture. This was a bit unsightly.
Location: Dining can be had in downtown Los Gatos - a short drive from the hotel. There's also a nice hiking/mountain bike trail not too far away too.
The Los Gatos Lodge is located on the fringe of Silicon Valley. During the work week, hotel rates in Silicon Valley are quite high since most travelers are on an expense account. Since this was not the case for me, the Los Gatos Lodge provided a lodging alternative that was wallet-friendly. Having lived in the area for years, I know that the lodge has been around for a long time. The architectural style reminds one of a hotel nestled in the forest back in the 1960's. However, I did read their sign saying that improvements had been made to the place with more upgrades on the way. Some of these improvements were evident in the room but not done elegantly. There was a flat-screen TV jammed up against the mirror and I think the shades/curtains were new. Despite these changes, however, the lodge still had that "cabin" feel to it and my sense was that more in the way of style was indeed necessary. My room was clean and had a microwave and fridge. The bathroom was quite small, the tub had two "hot water" faucet knobs, and the window screen was both loose and in need of some cleaning. The shampoo, conditioner, and lotion seemed to be of good quality but the bar soap was razor thin and barely sufficed for my single night's stay. The free breakfast was okay. Would I go back? Probably for a single night stay during the work week when I am footing the bill myself. However, if such is not the case or if in town on a weekend, I would probably consider other options

Nice hotel with a great rate

Posted 17-Aug-2014
Pros: See above.
Cons: Just complete the renovation. It seems to be making good progress.
Location: Convenient location. Good shopping and restaurants near by.
My wife and I stayed here one night. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation, and what they have done so far is very nice. There is more renovation to come. The grounds are rather extensive and make for a pleasant environment. The pool was small but clean as was the patio area around the pool. Our room was clean and comfortable. Everything was in proper working order. The included breakfast buffet was good. There is a bar on the premises. Parking was more than adequate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located. We liked it and recommend it to anyone visiting the Los Gatos area.

Pros: Not much.
The room looked old and cheap. The air conditioner was inadequate. The mattress cover did not fit the bed. There was enough coffee to only make two cups

Great location, older property.

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: Staff and breakfast.
Cons: Paying attention to who is in the party, and whether a ground floor or second floor room might work best,
Location: Location is fantastic, (and cheap!) for staying in Los Gatos.
I checked in late in the evening, traveling with my 6 year old. We were put in a ground floor unit, with a sliding back door and an adjoining door. We couldn't open the slider, for safety, and had neighbors that opened their side of the connecting door and knocked. At 10:30 pm, I was not going to haul my child out to ask for a second floor room. The rooms and decor were updated, but the bones of the buildings are still quite dated, with old windows, walls and doors. The staff was extremely kind and helpful, even when I checked in late, then checked out early the next morning. Breakfast was more than I expected from a "continental breakfast."

It's an ok place to just sleep

Posted 06-Jul-2014
I found a bunch of fat black spiders in my room. Made me paranoid. A few days before I arrived I confirmed with the receptionist that my rate would be lower with a AAA discount. When I arrived here the front desk receptionist tried to make me pay more. They were trying not to honor the price I was originally told it would be. I got him to eventually honor the AAA price. Hotel was ok. Might come back.

Scary was approached by a guard on the grounds

Posted 27-Jun-2014
Very scary and unstable. I went out about 10pm to look for ice. I was approach by a security guard that came from behind me, he ask me if he could help me. I jumped and said you scared the crap out of me, he smelled of cigarettes, and got within inches of my face, which the grounds clearly says is a no smoking campus. I am truly convinced if I had been weak in the least I would have become a victim of a crime. They really need to step up the employee back-ground checks....
