My favorite hotel in San F for romance or family

Posted 02-Mar-2015
First, this hotel is luxury. Beautiful interiors and great comfy beds. Second, you are in the best location. There is a Starbucks next door, the cable car to the Wharf and North Beach is in front, and there is a Walgreens where you can get waters, CASH back, and anything you forgot across the street. You are next to Union Square, and at Thanksgiving (good time to bring kids as there is ice skating and shows for xmas) with great shopping. You are also walking distance from all the best parts of town...china town, the wharf, north beach, nob hill, Lombard street. The rooms are kept clean- great maid I had. The staff is SUPER helpful and sweet from the doorman to the front desk. And, there is a great night club view of the city on top. I have been staying here for almost 20 years, each year. I have brought my children, and I have had a romantic get away. You cannot beat this hotel!

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel, close to many attractions and transportation. The room was a little small but comfortable.

Great location at Union Square

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Location: By Union Square, directly on Cable Car route to Fisherman's Wharf, etc.
Great staff. Had an historical room so very small. Otherwise, was great.

너무 오래되고, 지저분함

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Cons:

Centrally located but a bit dated

Posted 21-Feb-2015
Pros: The location is great; centrally located to shops and BART.
Cons: The bathroom is tiny, tiny. Not very comfortable at all.
Location: Chinatown is very close, as well as Union Square shopping. You can also have a nice walk to the Ferry Building, which is one of our favorite places.
Hotel did not have a room with two beds as requested and paid for with my reservation. Suggested I take a room with a roll away bed. I declined, but that meant we had to wait about 15 minutes for a room. Not that big a deal, but when you get in from a flight (at night), you would like your room ready. La Scala restaurant was fabulous, though. We did not have dinner reservations and it was Valentine's Day night, so the place was packed. The hostess not only found us a table, but it was in the lovely Wine Room. We had a delicious meal that even our 11 year-old loved. Cocktails were awesome and the staff was super efficient and friendly. Highly recommend the restaurant.

The staff is very helpful and dedicated. The design is historic and beautiful. If you like contemporary, this won't work for you. But if you are looking for Edwardian/London look, it is perfect. My room was a bit small and the view not very nice, but the furniture and paintings on the walls were lovely. The lobby/bar is amazing.

3 nights at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel

Posted 18-Feb-2015
Pros: Style, Charm and location.
Cons: Windows are old wooden single pain that do not block out any of the city sounds. We were on the 9th floor and it sounded like the street was just outs
Location: The cable car picks up in front of the hotel. Eat at Sears Café across the street.
The Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco is a very well maintained and professionally run older hotel with a lot of style. The staff is top notch and super helpful. The room service menu is basic and reasonably priced. The hotel parking is over the top expensive for 24 hours with in and out privileges. The public transportation in SF is excellent I will not rent a car next time unless it is absolutely necessary.
