We enjoyed just about everything here. Great breakfast, unique, clean and comfortable. Great wifi(Starlink). The only thing that could make it perfect is darker or blackout curtains.
The Mine Shaft Inn is a beautiful place where you walk into a different era. Jorden, the front staff was phenomenal. The room was spotless. The town is wholesome and friendly. We'll be back.
I've stayed here multiple times and love it. Great service and hospitality, yummy breakfast, a home away from home, comfy, amazing location, and the building itself is a historic treasure. Definitely will stay again!
Wonderful Old Hotel . Well worth the stop in isolated Rico . But only 30 miles from Telluride run by an engaging young couple

Nice property and very clean. However, the queen mattress needs to be replaced. It is very soft and has a huge ident in the middle. Worse night of sleep for my wife and I in years.
We enjoyed our stay at the Rico Mine Shaft Inn. The proprietors are super sweet and helpful. We loved our room and the breakfast was delicious! The proprietor told us about cool hike to hot springs.
It was a comfortable place to be. Wish we could have enjoyed the breakfast, but we had to leave early. She did leave us a quick breakfast that we did enjoy!
Wonderful and historic decor - a cozy gathering room with a wood burning fireplace tended to by Andrew the host/owner. Communication about breakfast needs for each morning - whether I wanted it at 7:00 or 9am always accommodating. The ceilings in the guest rooms are at least 12 feet high with views of the surrounding area. Just a relaxing and charming place!
This was our first time staying at this property and we absolutely loved it! The hosts were very kind and friendly, we were served a delightful breakfast to our bedroom in the morning at a time we were able to choose! The property was authentic and the bed was amazingly comfortable!
It was perfect! The breakfast was amazing, the view from our room was spectacular! We even got bumped up to a bigger room because they weren't as busy! And for being an older building it was immaculately clean!
Such a charming little hotel in a very small town. If you have the opportunity to stay here, I highly recommend it. Especially if it is the fall foliage season.
Everything was wonderful 🌺 best comfortable bed 🛏 breakfast yummy 😋 Good service 😍 in the most important thing the price👌 I was able to celebrate my mother 83 years old 😍 thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Enjoyed our stay. Andrew is an excellent host. He even hauled a bench to our room to put our luggage on. The Inn was clean and adhered to COVID-19 standards including wearing masks and decreasing the number of people staying.
The service was truly great and the room was very clean especially considering the covid virus situation.
We did not have a problem but some may have a problem with the steep and long stairs up to the upper floor.
If you want to stay someplace cheaper than what is available in Telluride but is still fairly close, go to the Rico Mine Shaft Inn. The couple taking care of it fix a good breakfast, which is a part of the price paid. Just be prepared to climb stairs!
The hotel is great for folks traveling to Telluride. We stayed for a week. At first, we were apprehensive because of the 1/2 to 45-minute drive to Mountain Village/Telluride. However, after making the drive, we were very glad we did. Driving the San Juan Skyway to and from Mountain Village and Telluride every day was beyond words beautiful. The surrounding mountains are majestic when covered in snow and one can only imagine what they would be like in summer. We loved the place. The hotel was originally built in the 1800s and has been put to a variety of uses over the years. The hoteliers were very friendly and accommodating and the place is beautifully decorated in antique style. Andrew helped us bring our bags upstairs when we arrived and he and Jordan took turns setting up a nice breakfast each morning. The mountain views were great from our window and from the kitchen and sitting room. Our kids enjoyed all the board games and my wife really appreciated the kitchen. We played a friendly game of chess and I won. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you are the type of person who wants to visit the area but doesn't want to spend 40k on your vacation.
