"This place is exactly what it promises: available host when needed with a good sense of humor, downtown Chico very close, but the best is the access (behind the house!) to Chico Creek with walk and bike way for miles. "This is a cute, nicely renovated, roomy, detached cottage set in the middle of a fruit orchard. It was sparkling clean and very quiet which is just how we like it. We were charmed by the orange trees over the patio and at the front door. Despite the bucolic setting, we found it was just a few minutes drive to downtown Chico to restaurants and stores. "Great stay - the Hampton Inn is a dependable brand, we have found, and have stayed in many nationwide. Their beds are good too and a decent bed (mattress, bedding) is really central to a good hotel stay — in my book, anyway; the Hampton Inn comes through. My wife stayed here with a toddler this visit, who loved all the cabinets and drawers in the room, and put a toy/clothes in each place, so the next guest *might* find a plastic purple unicorn in the dresser (maybe?) Staff is courteous and professional. There is also a pool, and it is not far from 99 with a bunch of restaurants (with a variety of cuisines, including diners, chains, Mexican and taco trucks, sushi, Chinese, and more) nearby (driving distance), so I’d call it a solid choice for the weary traveler - or anyone visiting (we were seeing family)."
