Stayed in a single room where the bathroom was bigger than the sleeping area. Not a problem if you are ok to crawl into bed. The biggest downer is the room faced the main pedestrian road which is very noisy on friday and saturday nights until 4 am

Very Accommodating
Super friendly and helpful staff, eclectic lobby, snug but well made up room. Arrived on an overnight flight, was able to sort out my bags and check in to be able to enjoy the full day without lugging things around.

The guy at reception who checked us in was very friendly and helpful, very nice guy! Hotel was in a great location and clean, only complaint was there was very loud music blasting outside from the nearby bars until about 2am, not the hotels fault and they do provide earplugs and eye masks.

We spent a week in Reykjavik and are so happy we chose City Center Hotel. It's a small boutique hotel in the heart of the city and the staff is just exceptional. We will definitely stay here again given the opportunity to visit Iceland again. Hopefully the bar will be open soon and it will provide even more amenities. The only thing I would recommend is to get rid of the bathtubs. The one in our room was treacherous and the small glass door did not stop water from going all over the floor. I fell out of the tub onto the hard tile the first day. Other than that, kudos!

Just got back from a great stay at City Center Hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland. Hotel was super cute, very clean and the staff was great with a lot of helpful advice and tips for great places to eat. Love visiting with the neighborhood cat as well. Parking is limited, but we managed to find it relatively close by each night. Will definitely plan to stay there again on another trip to Iceland.

This was an excellent hotel. From the price to the location to the staff, everything was great. It’s a small hotel (30 rooms), but the location is perfect with museums, American dining options, a convenience store, souvenir shopping, etc. the staff we met were all kind and helpful. The area was safe and easy to get in and out of. Parking can be a challenge, but if you’re patient you’ll find spots close. The only thing they don’t offer is any type of food or room service option. You can’t go wrong with this hotel.

I just love this hotel! The owner was extremely friendly and helpful! The only issue I had, was it was a little loud with young partiers on a Saturday night! It didn’t deter me so much that I wouldn’t stay here again.

I didn’t like the no-breakfast feature especially at the price charged AND it was VERY noisy till around 4 am. Too noisy for me and that was a strange elevator as well. Would not choose to stay at the hotel again.

Hello Brenda,We are sorry that you did not find our hotel up to your expectations. Our listing in booking websites clearly show that breakfast is not included. Our room rates have that factored to keep us competitive with other hotels in the city and our pricing is actually cheap compared to other hotels in our category. Our location is at the oldest and busiest street in Reykjavik and the name of the hotel itself identify us to be in the city center. Weekends can be lively as people converge to the downtown area but on other nights, it is actually very quiet and the restaurants and bars close around midnight. Our hotel building has been around a very long time and its old-style elevator is one of the oldest in the city.. It will be a shame to change it to a modern elevator and lose the buildings charm and character. Still, we hope you enjoyed your visit to Iceland..

Very cute, modern, comfortable hotel in the heart of Reykjavík. We loved how close and walkable it is to everything needed. Many finding options just a step away, super short and convenient walk to tour bus stops #1 and #3 (4 min walk). The hotel itself is very charming, small room but who spends any time in their room when they are in Iceland!! Comfortable, clean room, great bathroom,. Staff was always very welcoming and helpful, very great and attentive. Thank you so much City Center Hotel!!

The hotel is small, personalized and in the center of town. It’s very convenient to great restaurants and shopping. The staff are efficient and accommodating, and very knowledgeable about bus stops and times. We have twice already, and enjoyed both times.

This was my first time to Iceland and I am so happy I stayed at the City Center Hotel. It is centrally located, all of the staff is extremely knowledgeable and so friendly, the owner really cares about her hotel as you will see in the thoughtfully curated artwork and design. It's very eclectic and so much fun. Cleanliness is outstanding and the room's amenities were perfect. I will definitely be back!

The cleaning staff work hard and it shows. Excellent central location. Front desk assistance was some of the friendliest and most helpful I've ever had. If you want breakfast there's a superb place right across the street.

Birthday Stay
The stay overall was great. The hotel was conveniently located in the center of everything, hence the name “City Center Hotel.” It was walking distance to everything you would need and nearby tours. Check in was fast and the staff were friendly. I had a room with a balcony and the view was great.

Warmly greeted, pleasant staff,very close to major attractions. Smallish rooms, but entirely satisfactory. Check in and check out hours can be adjusted based on how fully the hotel is booked. I recommend this location.

Right on main shopping street, clean, bathroom had shower, basic room. Parking is on street so hard to find parking or park blocks away at underground parking. Probably true for any downtown hotel.

Check in sucked as we had to wait outside at night for a bit in the cold waiting for someone to come open the door but other than that and the beds being kind of hard it was an ok stay. 👍

Hello Justin,I was on duty at the front desk on the night of your arrival. I do remember getting you checked in. I only stepped out of the lobby for a couple of minutes to turn off some lights in the unused areas of the building. Still, I apologize that you had to wait outside for a couple of minutes. We were fully aware that you were arriving after midnight and as such I made sure to check the door often. Im sure you would understand that it is for the security of our guests that we restrict access to the hotel, especially during nighttime by keeping the door locked. Our reception staff is never away from the lobby for more than necessary. Still, we do hope that overall, you had a wonderful stay in Iceland.

Nice hotel and nice room. The hotel had so damage to some rooms so we were upgraded. However some night club nearby played very loud music until 2am with the same pounding loud beat for hours. Shook the walls. Needless to say we could not get more ch sleep. Good location but if you want sleep also find someplace off of the mail street.

We however made sure that the work does not in any way inconvenience our guests. The hotel is located downtown and has its advantages as well as a downside. Admittedly, the downtown area does get lively on Friday and Saturday nights. This we believe is common with other downtown areas of any major city. On other nights of the week, it is generally silent with establishments closing early.We do hope that for the most part, you enjoyed your stay in Iceland.

Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel. Clean, good size room, central location and friendly staff. One minor criticism is would like to have had a kettle and more coffee and tea facilities. The only other thing to mention is the loudness of the nearby bars, even the ear plugs provided weren't enough to block the noise, though much quieter on Sunday night. Overall a lovely place to stay.

Extra coffee pods or tea bags are also available upon request. With our location in the middle of downtown, we have our advantages as well as a downside which is the noise coming from other establishments in the area. It would be expected that downtown areas of any city would have noise. Reykjavik is no exception but it really is not as bad compared to other much more densely populated cities. We are glad that overall, you had a wonderful stay in Iceland.

The decor in the lobby was so unique it was hard to describe to people when we got home. The duvets were absolutely beautiful and it made the bed so cozy. Overall a very nice stay. I would recommend some sort of doorbell for when the front door gets locked later at night. There were a couple of us had a scare when we couldn't get in one night and nobody was at the front desk.

Really great service from the staff. They were helpful and always available. Hotel is right next to a club that plays music super loud so couldn’t sleep on any of the nights we were there. The hot water stinks of sulphuric acid which can be be very off-putting. I understand why that’s the case, but it wasn’t reflected in hot water used anywhere else.

Being in the downtown area does have the advantage of being accessible to almost everything. It also has the tendency to become very lively especially on weekends as people tend to converge in the area, which is typical with any downtown area of any major city worldwide. Though this is not the case every night. From Sunday to Thursday, the downtown area is relatively quiet and calm. New visitors in Iceland do get surprised by the strong sulfur smell from the hot water coming from our taps. It is not acid though. The smell, as many who took time to research Iceland already know, is that it is sourced from geothermal springs. After all, this is an island of volcanoes. Most people get used to and hardly notice the smell after a few days, and the water is not poisonous, nor is it in any way harmful.Perhaps the 6 out of 10 rating is not for the hotel itself but for the outside factors outside the scope of control of the hotel management, facilities, and staff.We do hope that overall, you had a wonderful stay in Iceland. Super clean and comfortable. The mattress , duvet, and pillows are spectacularly comfortable. Lobby decor is fun. Helpful friendly check in clerk. Wonderful location. Parking was not fun. Wish I could’ve opened the window for some fresh air, but it was locked shut.

Great stay, staff was great and always greeted me and had many recommendations on what to do. Hotel was such a charm, and the staff were amazing, I can't say enough good things!! I saw a comment about how noisy the hotel is, and that was not my experience at all. Being in the middle of downtown, so expect some noise and fun!!
