“Good stay - second time around”
We stayed at this hotel the first time approximately 4 years ago. In this second visit we had very high expectations. The hotel kept its standard - well maintained, clean, a good variety of foods, entertainment, etc. However, it seemed as if the staff/service was lacking this time around. Employees wore a smile and said the right words, but not willing to help much. This time around we traveled with 17 month old twins and it was difficult to get 8 onces of milk from a couple of places. We got smart, we stock up at breakfast! We were not discouraged; this is a great place to go and we will return. We loved that we were not "attacked" by sales folks about buying timeshares. We enjoyed our stay and we recommend this place.
“I would definitely go back again.”
We stayed 8 nights and had a Junior suite. The rooms were huge also had a jacuzzi bath tub. The staff were very friendly and the place was clean. Access to miles of beach. Food was great lots of resturants to choose from. If you want to go shopping you can go out to local shopping plaza's all over the place. You can talk them down in price. I tried a couple hotel owned shops to rich for my blood they don't bargain at all. You have to get around by cab they are pricey anywhere from ten to twenty dollars US a ride, you can talk them down too. They have an entertainment team that runs around all day to make sure you have fun. I have been to alot of places and the Dominican people are most friendly people I have met. One thing I didn't like though it was minor there was no laundrymat you have get them cleaned by room service pricey.
“Wonderful getaway”
We had the best time at Ocean Blue & Sand. We spent a little extra for the Privilege package and it was worth it. Also know tipping goes a long way. A dollar or two for the people taking care of you does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. The pros: BEAUTIFUL grounds, kind helpful staff, perfect relaxation setting. My petty cons: Would have liked a screen door on the balcony - we like to hear the ocean but with no screen door we didn't want to let the bugs in. Breakfast was delicious. Not much available for lunch, a couple of buffets whit snacks and lunchy stuff. Dinner restaurants are pretty good. Just don't order the goat. Too many sales people, if an H10 Premium white shirt guy starts a friendly conversation and walks with you just tell him you are not interested and already spoke with someone. They can be pretty relentless, but stop when you seem agitated. Overall this was a great experience. We went without kids this time, but we kept saying how much our kids would love the place - so we may go back with the kiddos.
“Nice enough but keep your options open”
The grounds are beautiful, the pool and beach area are amazing, the staff is super fun and friendly. Room Service was TERRIBLE! Didn't clean our room after first night and forgot to bring towels. Had to wait 1 hour before they brought them to us. Frustrating. After that it was fine. The food is alright and they only have some of their 5 restaurants open in the evening so we didn't even get to try all the restaurants they offered. We did the "Buggy" excursion and it was fun but the buggies broke down and were in terrible condition so we traded for the ATV. Much better experience on the ATV. Did a deep sea fishing excursion and LOVED IT!!
“Very Disappointed both times”
We went to Ocean Blue earlier this year and they made a major mistake and overbooked the resort. We were sent to another resort the first night. The entire trip was very disappointing. They ended up giving a complimentary week. We just got back from Ocean Blue and no I would not recommend them to anybody. THe Priledge Package is not worth the extra money. There is no difference in the room. We had to beg for more alcohol for the room. THe turn down service we only got when we complained. I do not like to complain. I was on vacation to relaw and had more problems this time as we did the first time. The grounds are beautiful. The men that keep the premises looking greatm are amazing. The language barrier is horrific. Trying to explain our concerns. We had three couples and we all had problems and we also all had problems with water/plumbing problems in ll three rooms. So much more NO I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO OCEAN BLUE OR WOULD I RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYBODY ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Can't wait to go back”
wonderful stay, wonderful room, extremely friendly staff, great food. Went on our honeymoon a bit skeptic as we have heard both good and bad things about the area. we weighed good and bad and decided to go and we are VERY glad we did. Resort was beautiful and very well maintained. Staff went out of their way to help us with all of our needs. Beach was clean and not over populated. Only hint of a downside of the resort was the dinner we had at the "american" restaurant - under cooked mozzarella sticks which were more like two slightly breaded cold blocks of cheese served with a side of carrots? other than that everything here was amazing - we definitely will return!
“food OK, service mediocre.”
food was good, and surprisingly at the buffet restaurant. we wanted to check out the theme restaurants, but half were closed every day of our stay (8 days), or the remaining half that were opened, we had to wait 45 minutes to get a table. and once we got into the theme restaurant (margarita and la casa de mi abuela), the food was horrible. chicken breast was overcooked at la casa, and the burrito at margarita made me nauseous. the service at margarita was pretty slow and bad. i have to mention that there was a rat in my room during the last night of my stay. a rat, not a mouse! there are so many salespeople waiting outside the villas every day, trying to sell you membership to H10 Premium/Priviledge packages.avoid them!
“Not impressed.”
Resort is nice. What ruined it is that they have very bad customer service. We had to wait for a very long time for our rooms to be ready, they didn't put us a family with 2 kids next to each other and they put us in smoking rooms when we speciffically asked for non smoking rooms. When i went to the lobby I was told that the whole resort was non smoking...really astrays every where. Wasn't impressed with the food either, and we always had to wait forever for our drinks, by the time we got the drinks we were almost done with our meals. Loved the beach and the ocean...
“Disappointing!!”
Had a bathroom leak that no one bothered to take of (lasted a whole week). Room was dirty at check in but eventually got cleaned. When I go on vacation I hate to ask for things. vacation means to be waited on hand and foot. Didn't get that. Had to ask for drinks, extra towels, bed to be made, had to send meal back (over cooked). rooms require renovation. Staff just yes you to death and don't come through. Dont' bother visiting.
“Horrible resort”
The room had roaches so I changed to another room and it also had roaches. The Orkin man (roach spray man) was spotted spraying the premises often. The restaurants cannot accomodate all guests so you either wait an hour for dinner or hit the buffet every night. The staff have no hospitality skills and do not respond well to requests. That includes a drink order to the bartender. The shows are mediocre. There are beautiful beaches and nice pools. I did not feel safe at night unless I had a big group with me. 4 of a group of 20 became ill - stomach issues. You have a 20% chance of becoming ill. The casino was tiny. Wifi was available in guest services - I had plenty of laughs as I heard patrons complaining about a variety of issues. There were constant complaints about this hotel and the staff could not care less. They behave as if they are doing you a favor by letting you into their resort.
