great place i will be back in july Oscar the manager from the buffet was wonderful also all the girls that work in the hotel we had the best time all the workers are just wonderful

“Punta Cana 2011”

The hotel, pools, and beach were beautiful, however on more than one occasion our maid forget to leave towels or fresh bedding. It was difficult to speak with the staff due to the "spanish" language barrier. Our biggest complaint is the food and the fact it was always cold or luke warm. It is NOT safe to travel outside the resort property due to the high level of poverty in that country.

Area recommendations

Hard Rock Casino. It is a large resort property and has much better food.

“An amazing resort with wonderful restaurants!”

The hotel was beautiful and nicely kept. Everything was clean and the utilities were working well throughout our stay. The bed was a little too firm, but that was not a huge problem. The pools are lovely and there are wonderful palm trees all over the resort. The white sand beaches are beautiful and we both felt taken care of during the stay. The majority of the staff were very kind and welcoming, and most could understand and speak English. We were only approached on one occasion about a time share, and the issue was not pushed when we declined. The gift shop was reasonably priced and there is a shuttle that can take you to a local mall. The restaurants were AMAZING!! The French and Japanese restaurants were our favorites. Waiting time for the restaurants ranged from no wait to 45 minutes, but was well worth it. If you want Japanes Tepanaki (where they cook in front of you) the wait may be up to an hour, but also well worth it. The meals are exquisite; some of the best food we have ever had. There are also two buffets which were very nice. If you want good food, come to this hotel!! We had the time of our lives!

When to go

We went during the last week in July and the weather was amazing! It rained a little bit each day for approximately 30 minutes, but was still sunny. The humidity is moist, but tolerable, and the evenings are perfect. There was always a nice breeze.

Shopping

The gift shop is nice and reasonably priced. The local mall which a shuttle can take you too is a little disappointing. There are a lot of American and European stores that are overpriced. However, the mall has a handful of nice local gift shops. There is also shopping tents if you take a 10 minute walk down the beach. Most of them have the same merchandise and the sellers hussle you a lot.

Dining

The restaurants were AMAZING!! The French and Japanese restaurants were our favorites. Waiting time for the restaurants ranged from no wait to 45 minutes, but was well worth it. If you want Japanes Tepanaki (where they cook in front of you) the wait may be up to an hour, but also well worth it. The meals are exquisite; some of the best food we have ever had. There are also two buffets which were very nice. If you want good food, come to this hotel!!

Nightlife

While we stayed the night club was not particularly busy but had a good mix of local and popular music. On one night they had a karaoke contest which was fun to watch.

Events and shows

In the evenings they have cool shows in the plaza area including fire jugglers, people on stilts, dancers, acrobats, and comedians/hypnotists. It was cool to watch and fun!
