Front of house staff were excellent. Restaurant information was very helpful. I cannot say property was perfect because the elevator close to lobby didn’t work. This meant hauling bags up four steps. Otherwise, we enjoyed our three day stay. Thank you.

The tv and internet wasn’t working, the reception did not care much about it. While I wanted some help the reception guy was taking private call on the phone while I was just waiting there. Other than that location of the hotel was ok, breakfast just fine and the room was very clean.

Rude Reception
We will never return to this hotel because of the rude way way we were treated by a couple of the reception staff. It was also uncomfotable to watch other customers and a young lady staff member being treated in a slightly agressive manner. This is not a cross-cultural issue because nowhere else in Portugal were we ever subjected to the bad moods of staff. Other than that the room was clean and comfortable for a one night stay.

Tryp Centre Hotel is safe, clean, room is quite spacious considered in Europe city. Because of its centrally in located, most tour companies will be able to offer pick up and drop off. We walked to most Porto attractions. We took the tours for places where driving is required. Would recommend this hotel

It was easy enough to find free overnight parking very near. Front desk staff was very accommodating' free ice etc. good size & clean rooms. If you are even only mildly fit most of the interesting sites around Porto are walkable. If not there is a metro station not too far, & busses... Came for 1 night & stayed for 2.

I am not usually picky when it comes to reviewing a hotel. However, the quality of this hotel was affected by several small faults. Namely, TV reception not good, one or two fixtures in the bathroom loose or hanging off. Limited choice for breakfast, one of the breakfast staff chewing (gum?) and some of the breakfast utensils not fully cleaned. On the positive side, the rooms are a good size, and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. These details are more important than the more irritating faults above. It was just that I would have expected more given that the nightly cost was in the region of 90 Euros. Also, many previous reviews point out the hilly location. Obviously the hotel cannot do anything to change that, but it is that issue, rather than the small problems, which would make me consider a different hotel next time. Shame really because, as mentioned, staff were so helpful.

More disturbing is the gum incident; this is not tolerable, and we have already prohibited this (bad taste) practice. We also thank you for your kind words about the friendliness of our front office staff; most king of you! We hope that these incidents don't keep you from choosing our hotel again in the future. Not very happy with this stay. Everything needs updating. The mattresses were hard as a rock. One of the staff member in the restaurant had a horrible cold. Should not have been there. The one good point was the housekeeper. Super sweet.

Wonderful Experience

Very Quiet and Peaceful
Its is very neat and quite. Staff (front desk, house keeping and restaurant) is friendly. It is not in City Center by any means - so have to be familiar with public transportation (bus system) in Porto; the hill from the metro station to the hotel is pretty steep. The breakfast was good.

Staff was very good. Breakfast was o.k. The room was practical with few amenities, not even Kleenex. The TV worked. If you want to be close to the center of Porto or near restaurants etc. this hotel location is not for you.

I would class the hotel as "premium budget". I stayed for 5 nights. First, they allocated me a small room without windows which was nothing liked I booked or the photograph on the internet booking confirmation. Happily, on request the friendly staff moved me to a suitable room the next morning after I complained. The hotel is full of international tour groups, so consequently I assume individual internet bookings are allocated inferior rooms. Fair enough, if the consumer is provided with an honest description of the room so they can make an informed choice. My new room was nice and had all the facilities I required. The hotel is not located in the centre of Porto as the hotel name might suggest but in a northern suburb, which is 5 metro stops from the centre of Porto. It takes around 30 minutes to reach the centre on the metro including walking from the hotel to the metro station.

Small room but comfortable
Very small room door opens to face a wall and then need to side step to enter. Apart from that the room is reasonable. Bath room clean and well presented, comfortable bed, nice patio with table and two chairs. Catches the sun in the morning and early afternoon. Area around hotel was dead but that does mean quiet at night! It’s 20-25 mins away from lively restaurant area. Staff were friendly and helpful. They agreed late check out with no issues and arrange taxi to airport. Ok for short stay in the city.

Hotel was clean and tidy, and quite modern. Staff were good. Location was near Marquesis metro station, two or three stops to Sao Bento so not really walking distance but not inconvienant either. Area seemed reasonably quiet.

Makes sense for the price
We needed a hotel for a one night stay in Porto. It is located on the outskirts of the town, but Uber rides are very inexpensive here so that what was not an issue. The hotel is nice, basic and for the price it made sense. Only issue was the attitude used when we asked for an Iron. We were not aware that our room did not "qualify" to have an iron sent to our room. The front desk made it very clear and in a very rude manner

Iron and iron board is available only in premium room, and at the moment all were occupied. However, a ironing service was offered so solbve the dificulty. Clean and modern. Good WiFi and breakfast. A little far from the tourist area but taxi fares were between 5 and 10 dollars by Uber.

Very friendly staff Pedro on days and other Pedro on nights excellent service. Comfortable clean hotel only 15/20mins walk to center nice little mini market only a few doors away with bus stop outside Bus number 302 take you in full circle if interested I did it one day see local life but also takes you to centre Carmelo is good stop for site seeing near station and not far to walk to River.
