We stayed here strictly because of the free parking. The floor of our room had a soft spot. The bed was very uncomfortable. The hotel had a smell. We opened the windows but still there was that smell. We could walk to a mall and a beach close by but limited sandy area on the beach. The staff were friendly but when we asked for a kettle or a coffee machine in the room we were told that we'd have to upgrade to a different room but they had none. We drove to Porto very easily to check out the sites but parking was hard to come by.

A mixture of good and not so good
Nice location and pool and spacious room but very very very slow service at the bar and mattress is very firm. Breakfast was so busy there was no where to sit but the food was frequently replenished

Just what we needed!
The front desk staff member was superb. Polite, professional, knowledgable, helpful and friendly. AND she spoke perfect English which helped our situation immensely. Dinner was very good, bearing in mind the Covid restrictions on service availability and the same could be said for breakfast. Comfortable room, clean and very tidy. Bed extremely comfortable. clean rooms and nice lobby sitting area with the bar right next to it where u get coffee or hot chocolate!! . Close to the mall shopping and 6 minute walk to supermarket Breakfast is a 10 plus!!! great. However the dinner staff could be friendlier and could learn a few things about customer service in the restaurant industry and language was not the issue. Im used to having a coffee machine and an iron in my rooms , they do not have them but its not a big deal! great hotel overall and very clean...

Located far from city centre but close to airport. No metro/subway, only infrequent 601 bus to downtown. Limited shopping and dining options in area. No tea/coffee making facilities.

The rooms are a little dated and the location although close to the beach did require 1/2 hr travel via bus to get downtown. The bus route is conveniently located near the hotel so that was a bonus. Pool was great and the selection for the breakfast buffet was good. There weren't many other options available for restaurants in the area so we did eat downtown as well.

The hotel is 10 min by taxi from the airport. It is clean, welcoming and the breakfast had a great selection. I would revisit. 5 min to Matosino town by taxi. Near to mall, 10 min max walk.

Clean hotel, easy access to airport.
Overall is a good hotel for a night staying or business. I would not recommend it for vacation because of its location. The guest room's doors are pretty noisy when closing.

forget nonrefundable reservations?
I didn't stay at the Tryp Porto Expo because I discovered after a couple of days of having made the reservation that I'd entered the wrong date. The app did not let me contact the hotel, and the booking was nonrefundable. I now have to reevaluate whether I want to use nonrefundable bookings ever again. (There would have been a week for hotels.com to resell the room.)

Not bad, but not great
Hotel reception was lovely and staff for the most part great. Room was a little basic and was disappointed, there was no complimentary water, the mini bar had tins of coke and one of beer and the bathroom was worn and hadn't been properly cleaned. The shower head keep sliding down the pole so expect neck pain trying to rinse your hair. Breakfast was ok but nothing exciting and it was quite a limited range. The night before we checked out I asked at reception to book a taxi for 9.30am the next morning. When the taxi didn't arrive I went to check and the receptionist had set me up for a wake up call instead. Glad we weren't in a rush to the airport! We were here on business and the location was close to the offices but would try somewhere else next time.

The hotel is excellent, but the resraurant is not!
The hotel is excellent. The only thing missing is power outlets that not already used for the light or TV. There was no free power outlet anywhere to charge your phone or laptop. If your hungry, try some of the excellent fish restaurants downtown. The restaurant in the hotel desperately need a new chef.
