The Caleway Hotel is a beautiful gem that we will be recommending to anyone who is visiting Porto or Gaia in the future. The building is a former jail that has been beautifully renovated to include every desirable modern comfort while still presenting some of the original stonework and tiling. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and cleaned every day, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The included buffet breakfast was fresh and had options for every kind of eater. The location can also not be beat. Our room overlooked the Luis I Bridge and the rest of Porto. Only 3 minutes of walking from the front door got us to the main riverwalk of Gaia, with its innumerous restaurants and Port Caves; ten more minutes took us across the bridge and into downtown Porto. When we needed at rest from the sun and excitement, the garden and honesty bar at Caleway provided a relaxing and comfortable respite. We were sad to leave at the end of our 3 nights there.

What a fantastic and beautifully designed hotel. Everyone was so friendly, the room was modern and well furnished and breakfasts were great. Highly recommended!

Wonderful hotel!
A beautiful hotel in a quiet lane in the fantastic Vila Nova de Gaia area of Porto. The hotel is fairly new so everywhere in excellent condition. We had a beautiful suite with incredible view over Porto. Brilliant and helpful service at reception too - we will be back! Only small negative was that there was a loud house music event in at the WOW museum one night from 3-11pm which made relaxing in hotel difficult but think those events are rare so advise to check what’s on at WOW before your stay!

What a wonderful blend of old and new. Part of the hotel is older. I stayed in the newer part and my room was terrific. I did not see an older room but the main areas were all lovely. The courtyard was a nice retreat with beautiful views. It was conveniently located up the road from the main square in Gaia. Very walkable and close to transportation.

Lovely hotel, we loved the mix of modern and traditional interior and the convenient location close to the port houses. You can also easily walk to the Porto side or get a cheap taxi. The breakfast was generous and the staff were knowledgeable and gave us helpful recommendations for restaurants and things to do. We’d stay again!

Perfect location to explore Porto
Excellent location to explore Porto. Close to World of Wines, the Port Houses and the river. The hotel has great design feature, combing a historic building with modern facilities. It is very clean and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious.

Recently renovated hotel in Gaia across the river from Porto. The rooms on the ground floor that open onto the garden are very peaceful. There is no restaurant in the hotel but many very close to it. Access by car is a little bit difficult, but most taxi services seem to know how to get there, although it is a one way street.

Great Location in Porto!
This was the best accommodation we had during a two-week trip! It was convenient in a very walkable area, absolutely gorgeous inside, and service was amazing! I definitely recommended it to anyone going to Porto and would certainly stay there again. The rooms were luxurious and very comfortable. The only thing that was less than ideal was having to find on-street parking.

Pulled up outside in the taxi and started to regret our booking, but we were very wrong. Splendid hotel in the perfect location. Excellent Hotel Stay
Caleway Hotel, located on the Gaia side of Porto turned out to be a great location for us. Close to restaurants and the Douro River. The hotel was very quiet, clean and allowed for a relaxing atmosphere. A great location as we were able to walk to our ship on Ama Waterways. Breakfast was included with our room and a large selection of pastries, eggs, cereals and yogurt were offered. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is well located and inside it is very nice. The Covid safety measures are all in place and we felt very safe. Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. New Questionable Hotel
New Questionable Hotel Located in Gaia Area, right next to the Douro River. There were a lot of building works going on in this area so it is noisy during the day. My Pros and Cons as follow Pros 1. Professional friendly staff 2. Brand New hotel with new facilities 3. Easy access to the restaurants and bars 4. Very near to those infamous wine cellars if you are into wines. Cons 1. Cleanness of the room. As you can see from the pictures there were dusts under the bed. They never cleaned once during our stay. 2. It does not matter if you stay for 1 night or 2 weeks. Only 1 bottle of water and 3 coffee cartridges were given. Any Additional water and coffee cartridges you have to pay for 3. Unfinished works were every where. The pictures you see on the website that hotel shows, there were there Great, but there were a lot of unfinished areas which were not shown on the website 4. Work notice in advance. They were doing some works on the roof but the hotel never informed us to be aware of. The soil was everywhere. I find it a bit strange that hotel did not inform the guests in advance. 5. Rather too simple breakfast. Do not expect fresh orange juice. It was very basic. You will get bored after 3 days. Final verdict You would be a lot better off to book somewhere else. There are a ton of better hotels in Porto. Do not be fooled by those amazing reviews. As a brand new hotel I think they lacked of providing simple service and environment for the guests. They have

Beautiful renovated boutique hotel. Converted from an old police station with the stone walls and tiles being prominent in the main areas of the hotel. Rooms are spacious and look out onto a lovely courtyard, for when the weather is good. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if I was in porto. Very hard to find if you are driving but call the hotel and they will give you great instructions. Don't give up it's worth the stay
