Historic Cary House Hotel

"This is a very old hotel with all the scents and quirks of an old hotel. However, it is beautifully maintained and we found the room very clean and the overall property very fun to explore and experience. The parking was easy to get to and from and seemed safe. We encountered no problems. We enjoyed sitting out on the common balcony and watching the evening of the downtown come to life. The shopping up and down the street the next day was lovely. Many shops are closed on Sunday, fyi. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely return again!"

"It is a beautiful place. We didn't have a balcony. The view was the highway. It was amazingly quiet. We were on the bottom floor. It was a long way to the room. The breakfast was nice. The beds were ok. Could have been better. A pillowtop would have been nice. It was clean and stocked well. Will go back when in town."

"An excellent hotel! Nice room, clean, and a microwave space that's great if you're on a diet. My kids loved it. The only two drawbacks: you have to go through the casino to get to the cafeteria, and smoking is allowed there, which was really unpleasant for my kids. Also, the room doors slam very loudly, making it hard to sleep the first night."

"Staff was great! Very nice and helpful! Room was clean, bed very comfortable, quiet. The town was a surprise. Great choices of places to eat and drink. Shopping included several quaint stores. We only stayed one night passing through but we could see ourselves spending several nights here and exploring the area."

"Viktoria and Chris’s welcome was fabulous. Their dedication to host the best way they can is more than obvious at the first contact.This place has become special to us. Can’t recommend any better place to relax and enjoy this side of the American river’s valley. We already know that we will be back to this peaceful place very soon, not once or twice but as soon as we feel the need to getaway.The place but even more the hosts are that special to us!We just can’t show enough appreciation for the care we have received during this short first stay."

"We had such a wonderful time celebrating our one year anniversary. Breakfast was brought to our front door every morning at 9am, which was very sweet. Everything was delicious. The view from our room was beautiful and we had breakfast and dinner on the porch enjoying the views. We spent time during the day in the pool to cool off. We also relaxed in the spa at sundown and the views were amazing. The room was very cute and the bed extremely comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we look forward to coming back in the future."

"The Davies Family Inn is an extraordinary bucolic destination, nestled in the solitude of the pines of the Sierra Nevada foothills. It features beautifully manicured grounds surrounding a cluster of picturesque log cabins. For those seeking solitude in nature, or a simple getaway from the city, this gem of a property places you in the perfect setting for a romantic rendezvous, intimate family gatherings, or a large celebrations. We were blessed to spend two splendid days and snug nights in Betty’s cabin, where the warm and comfy amenities and rustic flourishes placed us in another time and place. Views of the grounds and surrounding mountains were inspiring. And the dark night skies (devoid of any light pollution) were ablaze with more stars visible than in any other setting so close to the city. We came to visit family, but found our new, personal Shanghai La that is already calling us back! For a naturally beautiful respite, there’s nothing like the Davies Family Inn!"

"The house was great for the 10 of us. Lots of room, comfortable beds and many useful kitchen appliances. The kids really enjoyed the pool and the TV room. Nice being able to do our laundry. The house was well supplied. Since the house is well off the main road it was quiet and the and the dark sky was wonderful!"

"Very clean, spacious, restful place to stay. Peaceful, quiet location, away from any congestion but only 10-12 min drive to Placerville, Apple Hill, Gold Bug Mine, and more! The kitchen has everything you need. Great kitchen island and additional dining area. Very nice bedrooms & up to date bathrooms, 2 on the first floor and a 3rd on the second floor next to kitchen/living room. Great wifi, huge TV with accessible apps. Bright recessed room lighting throughout. Separate really nice laundry room. Hosts provided all the info needed.Loved this home! Would highly recommend it for a small to larger family!"
