Summary:
This stylish house for five is located on a quiet cul-de-sac just a stones throw from Penryn River and close to bustling Falmouth. The newly-built townhouse has spacious rooms throughout, with ample room for families and groups to spread out and enjoy.
The Space:
The light and bright kitchen has been equipped with plenty of mod cons, including an oven, gas hob, integrated dishwasher and fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. This opens out into a characterful dining and living space with velvet green sofa, a further sofa, armchair and a smart TV with apps. It's the perfect place to slump after a busy day exploring the coast, and you certainly won't struggle to find something to watch! The whole property has been decorated to a high standard, with homely trinkets dotted around and pretty artwork on the walls. Additionally, double French doors lead out from the living room to a multi-level garden with a dining table - ideal for an evening drink or two! There is also an additional utility room downstairs with a washing machine and a separate WC.
The whole property is set out over 3 floors, and you will find 2 double bedrooms and a single upstairs. The double rooms are spacious: with comfortable beds and ample wardrobe storage for clothes. There is an additional desk in one of the doubles, should you wish to visit on a working holiday. The single room on the top floor has a TV and storage under the bed, and the bedrooms share a modern family bathroom with both a bath and shower. Its convenient location, good size and stylish finish makes this a brilliant spot to escape to Cornwall's beautiful south coast. Ample free parking on the driveway.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire property, aside from the garage which is locked for storage.
The Neighborhood:
The house sits in a quiet, modern housing development in historic Penryn with local amenities just a short walk away. In under 10-minutes walk, will find a lovely selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs. We'd recommend trying Origin Coffee and Bango Kitchen. Bailey's Country Store is also located in Penryn, showcasing the very best of what Cornwall has to offer! You can expect to find locally grown, reared and baked produce alongside a huge variety of pet supplies, country wear and gardening tools. Lidl and Sainsbury's are also nearby to pick up supplies!
Penryn Station is around 15 minutes walk and is only 2 stops from Falmouth Town station. You can also drive in under 10-minutes. Falmouth is a bustling town with lots to explore, including the National Maritime Museum and profusion of local cafes, pubs and award winning restaurants. You can walk from Falmouth Docks to the stunning Pendennis Castle on the tip of the rivermouth, as well as Gyllyngvase Beach where you can rent kayaks and SUPs. Falmouth has 3 beaches in total, all of which have good swimming conditions and even the occasional surf! For beach dining options, we'd suggest trying Gylly Beach Cafe - which has stunning sea views - as well as Hooked on the Rocks, located over at Swanpool Beach. We'd also recommend trying The Boathouse, Five Degrees West, The Wheelhouse and The Star & Garter for excellent local beer and delicious, fresh food.
A short drive from Falmouth, you'll find National Trust-owned Trelissick Gardens, with a woodland walk that’s free to enjoy and takes you right down to the banks of the River Fal. For a post-walk pint, we would recommend heading to The Pandora Inn (around 15 mins from the gardens). Its sea-front location makes it one of the prettiest places for a pint this side of the Tamar.
Further affield, there is so much more to see and do. Ferries run from Penryn and Falmouth to lots of different places, including the beautiful fishing town of St Mawes on the other side of the estuary. There are also mackerel fishing and wildlife spotting trips available. Surfing beaches in the North can be reached within 40-60 mins drive.
Getting Around:
Falmouth and the surrounding area benefit from having some of the best travel connections in Cornwall, meaning a car isn't necessary to make the most of your stay here. Trains operated by Great Western Railway run all the way from London Paddington to Penryn Station, which is only a 15 minute walk from the house. This also stops in Exeter on the way, so if you are travelling internationally you can fly into Exeter Airport and catch the train down. Alternatively, you could fly into Newquay airport and rent a car or get a taxi to the house. It's around a 45 minute drive.
For those that do drive, we provide free private parking for 2 vehicles.
